I am also happy about the littleness of the thyroid pills.

I currently have two cats (littermates) to get them into twice a day, and neither of them is happy about it; though they tolerate it, by now, a lot better than they used to tolerate being pilled. -- a bit of water squirted into the mouth on top of the pill reduces, but does not entirely eliminate, the number of times that I find a little red pill somewhere after the cat has gone elsewhere.

But yes: when I have an older cat getting way too thin, I always hope very hard that it's thyroid. Relatively easy to deal with, and with medication you usually get several more years.

Yes, it's easy to treat, but I still lost my first cat to hyperthyroidism. I guess the overactivity just consumed her. I had to pill her as well because she eventually figured out what in that Pill Pocket.

I remember telling the vet that I wished a part of Leela's overactive thyroid could be attached to my underactive thyroid. Little problem of tissue rejection though.

For one of our cats, Bel, we use a cream/gel that we rub on the inside of her ears to help with her overactive thyroid. She tolerates it only because she knows it will be followed by *treats!*. A lot easier than when we were trying to get her to swallow a pill.

Remembered I had a digital audio cable in my Big Bag O Wires ("On the Grow Since 1987!"), and hooked up our TV to our sound system, so that the onboard TV stuff (like Amazon and Roku) gets properly output. Surround Sound for everything! Hooray!

Real pain in the ass hooking them up, though; flatscreen TVs never have the connection points positioned for easy access after the thing is hung on the wall.

...nah, not quite an "Ups and Downs" post, it stays here.

I know, right? It's been annoying me since we have a flat screen TV. I mean, they are meant to be hung on the wall, they are presented like that in ads and in the shops - would it be to much for the designers to think about accessability of both connection points and vital information when hung on the wall?

I spent half an hour over the weekend with a flashlight and me mobile camera as a mirror to try and read the modell number on the back of out TV without having to take it down.

Ha! I had to do that as well, so I could look up the owner's manual for the TV and figure out where I should be looking for the gosh-darned port. Because (another point of irritation), fewer and fewer major appliances come with paper manuals - either download off the internet or sometimes they're built into the appliance - as I found out for my TV, the owner's manual is accessible via the setup menu. Yay.

And this is starting to look like I should have put it in the "ups and Downs" thread: while the connection works, sometimes it doesn't, and I have to turn the TV off and then on again to get it working. More yay.

Maybe we should take this over to the other "Litte Things..." thread? I had to find the modell number to download the firmware update, because while the TV asked me to update the firmware to be able to use Prime Video, every try to do that on the online connection of the TV only led me to a screen saying "There are no new updates". I had to find the correct update on the PC, download it to a USB device, and transfere it to the TV's USP port.

Little things that make me happy: It worked, and I can watch Prime Video again!

A case I lost at trial was reversed on appeal, and the appellate opinion vindicating my client was certified for publication! I didn't handle the appeal myself, but there's still some street cred that comes with having made a good enough record at trial to get a reversal. I've had cases before where I won on appeal (both after losing at trial, and after winning and having the other side appeal), but this is the first time one of those decisions will be published, and therefore citeable. IOW, I made law!

Finally, a coffee shop that plays real time, real US Top 40 FM radio. I don't even mind the commercials.

Also congratulations EM!

Hmmm... how about Judge Sn, instead? (In his first appearance, in John Scalzi's The Android's Dream, Judge Sn was given an incredibly rare opportunity in Galactic law: to craft new law).
