The source for the faceless police sketch is one of the British doctors who they were out partying with that night -- she supposedly was also checking on Madeleine as well as her own 3 year old who was sick and vomiting, and also left alone in her apartment.
She allegedly saw with person carrying Madeleine when she was on her way to check on Madeleine and her own child, but 1)Madeleine's father and another man did not see her pass them on path back to the apartments, 2) she didn't go into Madeleine's room to check or she would have seen here gone and 3) she didn't mention recognizing Maddy's PJ's until 4 or 5 months later.

To me her story is just as phony as the father's -- if he saw anything unusual about the apartment, like the door ajar -- then why didn't he check the room instead of just peeking in. If she thought she saw someone with Maddy why did she not look in the apartment instead of just listening at the door.

I could have sworn I saw an article on CNN where they said it wasn't Madeleine.

Call me cynical, but the only thing I can see that connects Madeleine McCann with "Baby Grace" is a massive overdose of whishful thinking.

They also said she was wearing a Target dress; I don't think Target is international, is it?

And shoes from Walmart.

Plus why on earth take a kid on an airplane to the US with no documents when the whole world is looking for her?

I don't think so.

Well, kind of. They are still Asda stores and they play down the Wal-Mart connection. You can't get wal-mart branded shoes here.

Madeleine McCann was seen in a car two days after her disappearance

The McCann's seem to be getting round the ban on them talking about the case by releasing interview footage taken before the ban was imposed.

A private investigator said a reliable witness saw Madeleine in a car, on a small road, being handed over to another person 2 days after the kidnapping. He said he believed the witness was reliable. He was confident the alleged kidnappers would be caught. A report has been filed with Portuguese police, but the country's secrecy laws mean it cannot be made public.

The BBC 1 Panorama programme also features an interview with the McCanns' friend Jane Tanner, who claims to have seen a man carrying a child through Praia da Luz. If she believed it was Madeleine why didn't she say something or get a sketch done at the time rather than so much later? Could it be that memory is starting to fill in false details?

Tsk, Tsk Madeleine's parents get apology, $1M libel award

Two tabloid newspapers in Britain are running front-page apologies for suggesting the parents of Madeleine McCann had caused their daughter's death.

Kate and Gerry McCann say The Daily Express and The Daily Star have also agreed to pay more than $1 million in damages

From The Star website, no less! I'm surprised that the reporters at The Star couldn't find another source to back up what Kate and Gerry McCann "said" they had agreed to pay in damages...

I hope that story isn't meant to be the apology!

(eta) D'oh! Ignore me... I just noticed that's the Toronto Star, not the UK paper.
