I also believed that adults would never behave in a manner that was anything less than dignified for the situation. I couldn't fathom adults screaming at each other, holding opinions that made no sense, being unnecessarily vindictive, or behaving childishly. I figured at some point, once you grew up, you learned how the world worked, it made sense to you, and you settled into a comfortable life of accepting reality as it is and only having minor, intellectual disagreements with other adults about esoteric, high-minded topics.

I sometimes wish I never had to grow up.

I assumed when I grew up, I'd make mistakes, because that's what you do. I assumed though that I'd learn from my mistakes and go on to make new ones, not continually making the same stupid ones over and over again. Sometimes I wonder if I've reached the limits of how many times I can change.
