I love stories of flea market and attic finds.

Thanks for posting that.

This past summer, a clerk checking old documents here in Dona Ana county New Mexico, found the coroner's report on the murder of Pat Garret in 1908.

I spent a little over 2 months in Clovis NM and made the trip to the grave of Billy the Kid. Had no interest in the history of that outlaw before then. Since then, I've tried to keep up.

Is the Garret report online now?

I will check. It may be Monday before I can find out by a direct inquiry at the county offices. Library which is open today, may know.

The photo is interesting, but why was it taken and where? I had no trouble picking out Pat Garrett. I can see a resemblance between the Billy the Kid in the new photo and the one established photo.

I watched a NatGeo documentary a while back claiming a second photo. They did a good job of locating the photo in a time and a place. This new photo lacks a lot of detail, unless the others can be identified. Where did Pat Garrett stand in the conflict in Lincoln County? My recollection of him is dim and that feud is dim. It was largely over by the time he became sheriff, aside from William Bonney.

I forgot that there had been a trial in the death of Pat Garrett. Interesting stuff to avoid current events.
