A Halloween-related m&m's/starburst commercial that goes on forever, is not at all funny, not at all scary, totally lame, predictable, and goes on FOREVER! Ugh!

There's a political ad I just saw that's basically "if you vote Democrat, Nancy Pelosi will come back, liberal oppression will cause 1000 years of darkness, the president will be impeached, cats & dogs living together, mass hysteria!"

I can't believe that the networks actually run it.

You're getting the anti-Kyrsten Sinema ads up there?

I don't know who that is, this was just a generic "voting Democrat will unleash the apocalypse" ad.

You know what would be awesome about the apocalypse?

The thirty minutes of silence before the end. Bliss.

She's the Democrat running for Jeff Flake's seat. The Republicans have run several "if she's elected kiss the USA goodbye" ads.

I'm fed up with the ads for the New Jersey Senate race. The Democratic incumbent, Bob Menendez, has a tainted past due to corruption charges that resulted in a hung jury, admonishment by the Senate Ethics Committee, and rumors of sex with teenage prostitutes. Republican challenger Bob Hugin, while currently claiming to be a moderate, supports Trump and his philosophy on the Supreme Court and has a past record that includes support of male-only clubs and opposition to same-sex marriage.

All the ads, whether approved by the candidates or not, revolve around bashing the other guy. The few ads that have something positive to say about Hugin only mention that he was a Marine and headed a company that produces lifesaving drugs - not exactly qualifications for office.

I am so glad I don't live in that state!

There's an ad for some dishwashing detergent that's narrated by a girl. Her voice grates on me so badly. "So what does a dishwasher do?" Also I'm annoyed at the way she holds her mouth.

The ad for that new psoriasis medication. Dupixent. Those 3D things all over the dress and her hands and everything gross me out.

Same here. The commercial in question I feel bad for hating on her, because sheís just a kid, but like you said, her voice and mouth annoy me. Itís something she probably canít control and sheís probably a perfectly nice, ordinary kid...you know what letís talk about a commercial we can have a good hate-on without guilt.

Pretty much every time the PUR water filter commercial comes on, I dive for the remote to mute the thing so I wonít start ranting at the top of my lungs. It just pisses me off, especially the guyís wargle-bargle about drinking lead at the end. Itís a clear attempt to piggyback off fearmongering born from the Flint Water Crisis. Itís even more appalling, considering that the people of Flint still donít have drinkable water, making me want to... Iím torn between taking the filter and shoving it up something or ramming it down something; Iím not sure which is more appropriate.

There was a Christmas themed jewelry commercial that I only saw with the sound off, but even the visuals left me confused. But as best as I can reconstruct it, it unfolds like this:

A dad and his little girl are looking for a Christmas gift for mom. They're looking at a diamond necklace, but its pretty clear they can't afford it. So, they go home and the little girl decides she'll make a necklace. She gets some materials together, makes a necklace, and on Christmas morning waits for mom to open the package from her. Mom opens the package and... pulls out the diamond necklace they saw in the store. She looks over at dad, and he smiles.

Gee, thanks, dad. I'm sooo happy I went through the trouble to actually make something mom.

Jewelry commercials are almost universally about how love is equivalent to blowing money on expensive rocks.

[sarcasm mode: off/on--on] Lets try to figure it out shall we? Dish washer. That means someone/something that washes dishes, ie, gives them a bath. Clear now? [sarcasm mode: off/on--off]

Never seen that ad.

Slight hijack: does anyone know if those tear-jerk ASPCA ads are raising money for the organization? I know every time it comes on, DH or I change the channel.

I do that with the St. Judge and Shriner's Children’s Hospital commercials.

There's an ad with William Shatner promoting some sort of oxygen generating device for elderly people that I've been seeing a lot lately. I can't really articulate exactly why, but something about Shatner in that ad just rubs me the wrong way.

Likewise, there's an ad for some sort of eczema treatment, where this kid looks at the camera and says "And it's steroid free!" in a very "dramatic" way. That's not exactly the best way to describe it, but I can't think of a better way. But there's something about the way he says it that I find annoying. But some viewers must find it "cute" or something, because it seems like they use that shot in every iteration of the ad.

When we were back east for Christmas, I heard the Kars4Kids ad.

I understand now.

Is it the little boy in the glasses? I detest that ad. Also, I think the word you want is smarmy.

Yes, that one. And I think that's the word I wanted for both that kid and Shatner.

I haven't seen that ad, but you made me think of dramatic chipmunk for the first time in a long time with your description.

Too early to start posting Super Bowl (I think) ads? The Audi commercial for their new electric-powered cars. Guy is seen walking through a field of wheat up to his childhood home, where he reunites with his (presumably dead) grandfather... who shows him Audi's brand new, all electric sports sedan! Suddenly, a few spasmodic jerks from the guy, and cut to a cubicle farm, where one of the guy's coworkers has just saved him from choking on a cashew - it was all a near-death experience! But the cars are totally real, and will soon be available "on Earth"...
