Chicken Penguin Sweaters not actually intended for penguins

Photos and links like this are currently doing the rounds on Facebook:

But if you thought that the sentence "The Penguin Foundation on Phillip Island saves the lives of penguins - by putting them in jumpers!" implied that the sweaters would be worn by penguins you'd be mistaken. The Foundation has more sweaters than they'll ever need so any new sweaters they receive will be sold in the gift shop to tourists.

Here's an article all about it:

Chicken

I just bought two of the toys last night after I read that's where the sweaters were going. Too bad shipping from Australia/New Zealand will probably take a while (I bought one from both).

Default Meanwhilel back in the California...

At the California Academy of Science in San Francisco, they have a penguin
with a molting problem. To keep him from freezing, they made him a wetsuit.

It doesn't cause him stress. He is doing well with it. Also, he is still accepted by the other penguins. (They don't appear to be laughing at his new attire.)

There's a delightful children's book based on Pierre: http://www.amazon.com/Pierre-Penguin...re+the+penguin

Well of course not, course now he is the coolest penguin at the zoo. Not as cool as the penguins in Gutter Monkeys post though. But what they really need is outfits they can dance in.
