Guess it's time for me to binge watch some Night Court. Dammit.

RIP Harry.

Another guy everyone else knew from TV. I first heard of him when I saw him onstage with Mel Tormé. RIP

Aw, nuts. He was always entertaining, and had such a likable, goofy demeanor, whether playing Judge Stone, "Harry the Hat" on Cheers, or even as Dave Barry.

Terrible news. Night Court is one of my favorite sitcoms. It's amazing how many scenes and quotes I remember. I'm not at the 30 Rock Kenneth level, but I'm up there. IIRC, Anderson also did the occasional magic act for SNL.

I did to too, a bit. Mum and I used to watch Night Court together because it was on the night Dad played Squash (Racket Ball). But I can remember little else about it.

He was really a terrific performer, although perhaps he was just playing himself. Terrible news, RIP Harry.

I learned English watching that show (and Cheers).

RIP Harry.

This is sad. I liked his standup/magic even more than Night Court - very much in the vein of Penn and Teller, and I think more appealing to a wider audience. A memorable bit he did on SNL had him explain a relatively simple trick by showing a series of more and more ridiculous mechanical devices hidden on his body.

I know he kept a low profile in recent years; I wonder if he had health problems he didn't talk about.

I think he resurfaced around the time of Hurricane Katrina while he was living in New Orleans.

65 seems young to die of "natural causes," so I suspect that is the case.

You know, seeing it again I'm fascinated by how he supports the illusion of all that stuff working: the knee device actually works the grappler, his left pinky is stiff and at an odd angle from the beginning, etc.

That was my first thought as well, but the family isn't disclosing if he had any medical issues.

RIP Harry. Hope you spend your time up there performing magic and listening to Mel Tormé.

Saw a quote from a friend who indicate he'd recently had a bad bout of flu and hadn't fully recovered. But then, we initially heard Prince died of flu.

It's sad that his last filmed performance is in an anti-evolution film (as the Evil Biology Professor who tries to sway his students from The Revealed Truth). I hope he chewed up the scenery and made the most of his role.
