There's nothing quite as frustrating as not realizing the scope of a project until you're knee deep in it already :/

And then there's the mushroom factor. (This might or might not apply to the driveway project -- does it turn out that you really ought to do something about the drainage, for instance?)

Don't read anything about Donald Trump. There is nothing you can do and you just get frustrated and angry. Especially when you read stuff late at night. Just stop it. Go crush some candies or watch youtube videos if you have to stay online.

This!! The bolded part seems to be my worst problem though... it's ocnfirmation bias, I'm sure, but it feels like I always find the worst things that are most likely to upset me for a good while if I'm on the net late.

The saying "Nothing good happens after midnight" seems particularly true for me online

There is a time and a place for playing Spider Solitaire--that time and place is not when you should be getting ready for work!

I dealt with the first corollary when I started the long-term remodel of my house, back in about 1996. Luckily, I had traced what I ultimately wanted to do (redo the kitchen & upstairs bathroom) back through all the preceding steps, and actually managed to do them in the right order (first, replace the stairs; second, build a new bathroom to use while the old one is unavailable, etc.).

Now I'm looking at outside work, and I need to figure out what has to happen first. These projects appear (on the surface, at least) to be much more independent.

TYSHTTY: If you know something is not beneficial to your long term mental health then you should probably stop doing it.

If you have put liquid medication in the pocket of one of your clothes, the best thing to do is to not sit on it once you removed said cloth. Otherwise, don't be surprised if the seat of your pants is wet.

Next time be honest when someone asks you to go out with them. The excuse you give for why you don't want to do "A" is countered with a suggestion that you do "B" instead and then from "B" to a "C" suggestion and so on. Next time just say you don't want to go out at all. Anywhere. For any reason. Now you are caught in a seemingly endless loop where suggestions for outings keep getting offered and then countered.

I've gotten pretty good at this, but still struggle with it sometimes, especially with new friends.

I have finally learned to say, "Sorry, not interested" to the initial unwanted suggestion and "No, just don't feel like going out" to alternatives. It's taken me 57 years to accept that it's okay to not want to go.

If they gross you out so much, why do you keep looking at those videos?
