MidnightStar (LizzyBean) did post an announcment in the Clan hall. Just to make sure, I anwser here, too:

Yes, there are still snopsters playing KOL!

Mainly Tootsie Plunkette and me, but some others drop in occasionally.

We always welcome new players! Check out the Kingdom of Loathing!

If any of the those who have (for now) left the game would like to help out those of us remaining, we need six more clanmates to do this, and it should be fairly simple and quick:

Assuming you have access to The Valley of Rof L'm Fao, log in to the game and play there until you get the Rampaging adding machine. But first, make sure you have at least one 668 scroll and one 64067 scroll in your inventory - there are several in the clan stash if you don't. Use one of each against the adding machine, and you will get a 64735 scroll.

Go to your inventory and use that scroll and you'll get a sequence of letters and numbers in purple type. Please make a note of that exact sequence and post it here or to the clan message board in the Sloppy Jalopy thread.

How exactly does the trade offer thing work again?

I was thinking of offering one player who bought stuff at my mall store additional items for sale (thinking s/he might be a collector), but I couldn't work out how to securely offer trade through the kmail system. I couldn't find anything on that in the wiki, either.

And, unhijackingly, what's a good name for a bartender? I named my robortender "Ed" for now, but I'd prefer a more "typical bartender name" - no, I don't mean Bartender McBartenderface!

Spit Take

I went with "Joe" as in the song "One for My Baby," but since he was a robot I named him A.I.Joe.

And I don't know anything about trading.

So, you bought one, too? What's your experiance?

I keep refering to the wiki do check the different drinks' effects, and use them selectivly in certain situations. I did give some to the robortender himself, too, to try that out. Selling drinks in the mall doesn't work as well as I expected, but maybe that will change when they are better known.

Today is April Fools' Day!
Watch out! Silly things can happen on April Fools' Day.

Time to stock up on all your brined cucumber needs. Like for salad. Also, you can get that Tiny Costume Wardrobe you wished you'd bought last time.

Tip: they're serious about the A-Z difficulty rating. Yesterday I visited "PLANETZ" and got slaughtered in nearly every combat. Today I chose to visit "BABYIAM" and got a boring planet, but survived every turn.

SOERENA was toxic, in addition to having quite vicious critters. I may try ASOEREN today...

I thought better about it and tried ISOEREN:
Quote:
Current planet: Planet Name: Hamburguesus Taylor X
Coordinates: ISOEREN

Environmental Hazards:
high gravity
nasty gasses
Plant Life: advanced (hostile)
Animal Life: advanced (hostile)
Intelligent Life: detected (hostile)
DANGER: Spant chemical signature detected
ALERT: ANCIENT RUINS DETECTED
I'm sure it's accidental that the planet is named "Hamburguesus", but it's a nice touch.

Aliens, animals and athmosphere where managable for a level 20 sauceror with temporary Gr8tness - to an extend that allowed me to take along a geological sample kit that doubled my loot of rock samples.

I found some ancient ruins (a kind of shelter), but it was locked, and I didn't have a key.

Read This!

The forum thread on the Spacegate is full of interesting information, and someone has set up a Google Doc to track planetary information. I added the info for the planet I tried today, ABACABA. Pretty boring, except my first encounter with intelligent life.

Frying Pan

Don Enrico,
I have finished all the Hobopolis bosses. You and I were the only players this round. Pick what you want from the loot (I don't need any of these items), I'll claim the rest for smashing, then reset the sewers.

Frosty's old silk hat
Frosty's snowball sack
Ol' Scratch's ol' britches
Wand of Oscus
Chester's moustache
Chester's sunglasses
Chester's Aquarius medallion
Zombo's skullcap
Hodgman's bow tie
Hodgman's metal detector

FYI, I've been practicing some of the hints for reducing the number of turns spent in Hobopolis per run. Can't utilize some of them as they depend on having several players active simultaneously, but I figure if I ever *do* join another clan's run for a chance at some of the rarer Hodgman items it would be polite to already be familiar with the skills and requirements. This run was 3,575 turns total; our average run in recent years is about 5,840. It would have been even less but I did this over two ascensions so had to go through the sewers twice.

That's great, thank you!

I'll take Chester's Aquarius medallion. I've got all other items.

Is there a special price for doing Hobo polished all on you own?

No, I don't think so. Since I still lack two supposedly attainable items (both from Frosty), I keep playing it. I also occasionally farm the sub-areas for semi-rares, using clovers. I don't know that I crave the Hodgman items enough that I want to take the effort to join in on another clan's run, but I thought while continuing my quest for the final Frosty items, it would also be a fun challenge to try to also reduce the number of turns I took, by following the Hobopolis Strategy guidelines as best as one player can.

So... don't let my game play stop anyone from joining in our Hobopolis runs. Its extremely unlikely we'll ever be organized enough to do any sort of Hodgman runs so you wouldn't be messing up any complex strategy! Just have fun.

I just saw that: "Hobo polished" should have been "Hobopolis", of course!
