I’ve finished Carmen Sandiego and I think the one real complaint I have is that the factoids feel squeezed in. Oh, and Devineaux is so French I keep expecting him to ask about silly English kuhniggets (he’s also kind of an idiot).

I watched Knight Fight...

Tt's format seems to be a spin-off of a spin-off.
Forged in fire spinned off Knife Fight
Knight Fight seems to be spinned off from there.

Former Wrestling pro as commentator/flavour, panel of expert then COMBAT!

The first show was mostly guys in armour rushing each other to prevent the other guy from hitting with his weapon and everyone falling on the ground, grappling each other.

Doesn't seem very knightly to me. We'll see how it goes in the next episode.

It's not a new show, since it's in its second season, but it might as well be - Futureman. Hulu show, starring Josh Hutcherson, same set up as The Last Starfighter, and they do reference that. Hutcherson is the first to beat a game, and people from the future show up to tell him he's supposed to save the world. The first season was basically a goofy comedy, with a fair number of dick jokes. This season they have decided to become a satire, and they are pretty much hitting every aspect of today's society. From a show that started off as an attempt to keep a guy from getting herpes, it's a weird evolution. Still enjoying it, though.

I finished Russian Doll, the Natasha Lyonne Groundhog Day-like dramedy on Netflix. I'm a soft touch for timelooping storylines, and kind of appropriately I seem to be reading/watching a number of them lately, including a doorstopper book over a month ago. The looping in Russian Doll works slightly differently than Groundhog Day, since Nadia actually does make it to the following day several times, but apparently getting caught in the loop makes her very accident-prone or paints a cosmic bullseye on her back because eventually Nadia always dies. I initially wondered how she would even know if she was out of the loop since death is a prerequisite for the time reset, but there are some early visual cues that the resets are screwing up the timeline and it isn't sustainable. IMO, the show really took off once the second lead is fully established as his personality is such a polar opposite of Nadia's. He appears very briefly in the first episode, and I think I saw him on at least one other occasion before he gets fully thrown into the mixer at the end of episode 3. Like Homecoming, this show is another one of those compact dramas, so the episodes are only 30 minutes long. I liked some of the visual touches such as the blue geode-like vortex in the bathroom door and the parade at the end, which had the character Horse wearing a deer head that reminded me of Mr. Deer from the game Rusty Lake Hotel. I also can’t get the song “Gotta Get Up” out of my head. I guess I’ll have to wait for it to fade out on its own time.

Also finished watching the penultimate episode of Counterpart. This show had better be renewed, since I don’t see how the storyline could possibly be satisfactorily wrapped in the finale.

Iím finally watching something new when it has only just been released!

Iím watching the Das Boot, sort of err.. rebootish sequel.

3 episodes of I think 10 in so far and I am really enjoying it. I was worried because the original was such a classic but it looks like they have pitched the tone of it about right, albeit with more mdern pacing (so far)
