The spreading of misinformation online

An interesting, albeit somewhat dry, explanation on how stories spread on the internet. The conclusion may be obvious, but it is interesting to see some data that backs it up. More important is that the conclusion is that algorithmic solutions may not be the best option to break the pattern.
