Alarm,
Are you sure you don't mean rotator cuff? You have my sympathies. Shoulder injuries are the pits.

My sympathies. My diagnosis (so far) is bursitis, but I've recently started having pain at the front of my shoulder that suggests it (in addition to the pain on the top of the shoulder and down my arm).

With my former-employer-provided insurance about to end, I'm considering buying a sling to immobilize it for a few hours a day, or maybe while I sleep.

ETA: My current FWP is that I'm going to the dentist this afternoon for a root canal. Ugh.

it might be cuff, he gave me the diagnosis in french...

[joke]and it's not the pit, it's on the other side, on top of the shoulder, not below...[/joke]

also, good luck, Lainie

I have chronic calcific tendonitis and arthritis in my shoulders (well, the diagnosis is only official for my right shoulder--however, when I asked him what the odds were that I had this in both shoulders he said "pretty good."). For the most part, though, I don't have a lot of pain.

Thanks, all, the dentist went quite well. I was anxious before I went, but once I got in the chair, I was able to relax.

Same for you, Morning. I hope you find out what caused the faint, and that you'll be able to prevent a recurrence.

Thanks again!

I have many and sundry medical appointments upcoming.

The problem is without a car or much family (they are as ill as I am) and living in a town without bus, taxi, or Uber services those appointments present me with a quandary.

I need to find out how the Amish folk get rides to the stores....

Morning

The Amish usually pay people to give them rides places, around here. I don't know if there is a local facebook group for your town, but people here tend to ask on it about people who are local Uber drivers.

Around here there are signs posted in grocery stores, etc., by people wanting to give rides to the Old-Order Mennonites. I expect it'd be the same for the Amish. [ETA: yes, they expect to be paid. I don't know how much.]

If it's medical appointments, there may be other groups setting up rides -- I think here Office for the Aging does that.

I appreciate the suggestions.

I've decided, since I haven't seen any of the posted adverts, that I'm just going to ask an Amish lady when I see one at the store.

This week a former co-worker gave me the ride and sent her 12 years old daughter with me to help get things off of shelves. I have to ride one of the electric carts to shop and she saved me from standing and stressing my leg. (Of course I have trouble reaching things on top shelves even when standing, lol!)

The daughter is quite bright and home schooled. When asked what she was learning about, her answer was "The Battle of Crecy". Wow. She says that the Wars of the Roses is up next, but that the genealogy chart was confusing. (I'm pretty sure it was confusing to the Lancasters and Yorks as well. )

I guess am luckier than I thought.

I've placed an order online to pick up dinner at 6pm from a local restaurant. When I submitted the form, it said "Order placed at 3:45." (clearly a DST error). I'm worried that when I go to pick up my food at 6 it won't be ready yet

I'd assume the people making the food will take the order as it is written? Like, 6pm is 6pm?

Yes, I could call the restaurant to ask... but that negates the pressure relief of having placed the order online...

My house accumulates free alcohol faster that we can drink it. Whenever we host an event, people bring over bottles of liquor, or their favorite craft beer or cider. One guest always brings bottles of top shelf tequila and cocktail ingredients and spends the night as bartender. Each event we end up with 2 or 3 leftover bottles of rum, scotch, vodka, etc. And usually a six pack of beer, which I don't even drink.

My credit union offers these "purchase rewards" promotional offers where if you use your debit card at a particular store you can get 10% cash back, or something along those lines. Except often when I make a purchase at one of the stores their system doesn't recognize that I actually made a purchase at a qualifying store and doesn't give me the cash back. When this happens, if I email the credit union about it they're always good about correcting the error.

It happened again recently. I had an offer for 5% cash back from a purchase from Five Guys. I bought a meal from Five Guys, and paid with my debit card, but after several weeks the offer still doesn't show as "redeemed" when I log into their online banking. The total only came to around $12, so 5% is only $0.60, which is hardly worth the effort to email them to ask for, and quite frankly I'd be a little bit embarrassed to send them an email saying "I want my sixty cents". But I'm still kind of annoyed that I haven't gotten it.
