I took a walk on the beach this evening. It was quiet, calm and peaceful, and there was a puppy, and a pretty sunset.

That my new house has an easily accessible laundry room on the main level, with a space under the stairs that is perfect for the cats' litter boxes. My old house had a generous sized laundry room, but you had to go downstairs and wind your way through the garage to get to it, so leaving the door between the house and the garage open wasn't a good idea just so the cats could get down there. This meant years of creatively hiding the litter boxes (which was easy when I was living alone--just put them in the closet of the spare bedroom, but got difficult whenever I acquired a roommate). It was a PITA. Now the cats have a permanent place for their business that'll never have to be moved all about the house.

Switching from coffee to tea (less acid) and I'm really a HUGE coffee fan, so this is hard. First day is today. But I'm enjoying my tea right now with a dollop of agave nectar, and it smells and tastes delicious!

RG, I am drinking a lot more tea now - not a full switch but particularly at home, having tea instead of coffee much of the time. One thing I appreciate about tea is the many flavors available. Another thing is that black, green and white tea have all been shown to have healthy attributes, so I will change around among those, as well as having some herbal teas. I don't particularly search for a particular symptomologic effect, but I figure that there are likely substances that the body will take up if it has a use for them.

Depending on whether you also drink caffeinated sodas, and of course whether the coffee you'd been drinking was nocaf, your caffeine consumption may be dropping drastically. If you get headaches, mood problems, and/or difficulty staying awake, you may find it easier to taper off the coffee over a week or two, rather than stopping it suddenly.

Listening to a 4 year old count for Hide and Seek. He's good for a while and then becomes a random number generator. One of numbers was "ten-four".

Hey, my 4 year old son can count to "nine-invinity", which is even more than "eight-infinity"!

I was at Target last Friday buying a bottle of juice when the woman behind me said to the cashier "let me scan that for him." She then passed her smartphone to the cashier who scanned some app and I got 25% off.

Some friends of ours are using the week-long school vacation time to travel out west to visit family. Yesterday, they texted me to note that they were in a used book store, and was there anything I was looking for? I almost said no... and then offhandedly mentioned I was still looking to fill in some gaps in a book series I have been sporadically collecting for the last 35 years.
Ten minutes later, they had found 25 books in the series, confirmed they were ones I did not own, and gotten the ball rolling to having them shipped to me. They are very, very good friends, and I am very, very happy. ![]() |

When I get home from work, there is always a cat waiting for me in the picture window. When I walk through the door, said cat will be on top of the scratching post waiting for head scritchies. Yesterday it was Steely Dan.

One has to ask how big a book series is when 25 books are considered "some gaps".

I'm imagining one of those very long-running series with a million ghost writers, like Sweet Valley. Except it's probably not actually Sweet Valley. (You can admit it if it is, Crius! No one will judge you.
