If every judge had armed security 24/7/365. this would never have happened.

Sheesh. This is sad that I am neither surprised or horrified that this has happened.

How can we even be surprised or horrified anymore? Shootings like this are happening so bloody frequently that I've simply become numb to it, and have foregone reading and watching the news because my heart simply can't take it anymore.

Yeah, I keep waiting for Snopes to just start a "Yet another Mass Shooting" thread or "Yet Another Person Shot By Someone who shouldn't have access to a stone let alone a gun" thread, because this shit keeps happening so often that maybe for the ease of bandwidth, we should stop doing separate threads and just update other ones. But given that not even kindergarteners getting shot would convince those in power to grow a spine and stand up to the nfbskers at the NRA...

This was in Texas, where were all the "good guys with a gun" that the NRA keeps saying would prevent gun crimes?

The motive for the shooting is unknown. At this time it could be a robbery, it could be related to a case the judge handled, it could be a jealous lover, it could be domestic.

Is the protection provided by good guys with guns dependent on the motive of the bad guy?

Well sure, if she was one of those activist judges who was subverting the Constitution with things like equal rights for all people, then she deserved to be shot.

First, I do not advocate every one carry a gun because it does not provide increased protection all the time although it can increase your level of protection in some rare occurrences. Next motive is important in finding the shooter unless this was completely random.

ETA: Statistics say having a gun in the house decreases your level of safety.

I didn't meant to suggest that motive was entirely insignificant, I was just tripped up by the context. Sorry.

I heard on the news on the radio while driving to work this morning that a person of interest has been detained in Houston. This person supposedly has a case being heard by the judge.
