Read This! Do we thrive on lies?

Quote:
Dear Editor,

I am a vet, so when I got a note about the president from a fellow vet, I was shocked.

It quoted President Obama as wanting injured vets to pay for their own medical care. It said that he called us whiners for objecting. It also said that it had been checked at snopes.com.

Bang Head

It took me almost until the end of the letter to realise this was about vets as in veterans. I'd been wondering all the time what Obama was supposed to have against animal doctors.

I really hate that "as checked out by Snopes" has become the Internet equivalent of "as seen on TV" -- it sounds good, but doesn't actually tell you anything about the quality of the product/message. Terrible items can be shown on TV, and false messages get checked by Snopes too.
