Gaaaasp!!!

A person's hand has actually been captured in an awkward pose on film!

Not only that, but there is an orb in the window that looks exactly like the reflection of a camera flash!

Indisputible evidence of human exsistence!

Could that be the brown, dry edge of a fern?

No, the window has a large pane of glass with an opening window to the side - the main area of the window cannot be opened.

Is there indeed somebody opening a door at all?

To me, it looks like there is a wardrobe with mirrored doors standing to the left. Captured in the ipcture is part of that door, reflecting the opposite white wall. The "hand" could be the wardrobes door handle, partly reflected in the door.

It looks like you can open the window but it's not. It's asymmetrical and the small part of the window is open but the larger part is closed (you can see the frame of the closed portion) and the flash is bouncing off the larger portion.

Don I'm not getting a wradrobe at all, it's just a door. Other pictures of the room in the listing confirm that.

You're right, from the other pictures it is clear.

I was wondering because the "alien hand" picture doesn't show anything of the "narrow" side of the door - the lock mechanism for example, which is visible on the far left of the second picture in your link.

I retract my earlier suggestion.

this photo's caption is a stretch ... regardless of what the room looks like.

Working from hambubba's cut-out, I marked the hand:

But what is that behind the hand, but of nearly the same colour?

Ponder

Umm, isn't it just a left hand and a right hand, with one partially obscured behind the other?

Could be, but why would somebody hold the hands like that?

The (left) hand I marked is going for the round door knob below it. What does the other hand do?

One point: it's not a round door knob. It's a horizontal door handle with a round door lock just below. (This is evident in the third photo in the link Gibbie provides. You see the back of the same door, with the same handle style.)

This person is rather awkwardly resting his or her hand on this door normally horizontal handle while the photographer snaps the picture. The third, fourth, and fifth fingers of the left hand are placed on the door handle with just enough force to depress the handle down just a tad (you can see the metal handle -- slightly off horizontal -- poking out from under these fingers and the rest of the hand). The tips of the fourth and fifth fingers rest near the part where the handle is attached to the door. The second finger and thumb are dangling off the handle.

This hand placement on this door handle certainly gives an odd effect, but it's possible to splay your hand and mimic this claw-like appearance if you imagine that there's a horizontal handle supporting the left side of the left hand.

For you Firefox users, the addon "Image Zoom" saves you lots of time and speculation.
