Dear Minnie-Kitty,

I understand that you have to give Roxy the business, lest she strut around like she owns the place, but do you have to be such a butt to her? Like it or not, she’s part of the pack, so you’ll have to see her bright little face every day. I also believe that you greatly underestimate the benefits of having a partner-in-crime/patsy.

Try to get along because I don’t think they make Get-Along shirts for cats.

Signed,

Your Thumbbeast

Dear Siamese-looking kitty,

I know you’re a stray, but our paths keep crossing and despite everything, I hope life treats you well. Hope the kittens haven’t driven you mad.

Most importantly, I also hope that you are learning that if you lie still, our Boomer-dog leaves you alone. It’s when you take off like a rocket that Boomer goes all, “Must chase!” Forgive him; he hasn’t figured out that he’s a big dog and that might spook other animals. Given that he’s entering his senior years, it’s safe to assume that he’ll never figure it out.

Take Care,

Stranger with the Big Yellow Dog

Our big yellow dog never figured that out either.

Dear Pearl:
Will you please stop waking me up in the 4:00 AM hour!! At least have the decency to wait until the alarm goes off at 5!

Dear Cats I currently Own as well as any Cats I may own in the Future,

I should accept that if there's ever a housefire, if I wind up dying in it, it will because one of you were on my lap and I couldn't bear to disturb you, because you were lying there and were so soft, warm, and cute. I am absolutely powerless in the face of sleepy sweetness.

Love,

Your Warm Human Cushion

Dear Roxy-Kitty,

I'm assuming you think that I have that, ahem, built-in shelf on my chest just for you. I wonder if you like lying there, because maybe the heartbeat makes you think of your mom. Or maybe you are just being a cat and there's no deeper logic at all.

Love,

Your Warm and Loving Thumbbeast.

Dear nice dog who tried to sniff my butt while looking for strokes and cuddles,

You're lucky I didn't fart at that precise moment.

Still, you're a nice dog. But next time, be more careful, will you ?

Dear Pearl--I'm glad I was able to comfort you this past Sunday night by bringing you onto the bed with me. Those were some seriously loud thunder storms!

Dear Roxy-Kitty,

How long did it take you to figure out you had me good and thoroughly whipped?
I guess it doesn’t matter. The deduction has been made. As such I should just bow my head and accept my duties as thumbbeast.

Hello Kitty

Dear Ka-Ching,

We will miss you but you will always be in our hearts. It helps that you went peacefully in your sleep and you are free of the pain of your arthritis.

Say hi to your Uncle Mo when you see him for us. And let Dr. T know that we will miss her as well.

I also want to express my condolences on your loss.

And also ask about the story behind the name "Ka-Ching" for your cat. Did you find him/her in a cash register?

I don't remember how he got that name. We got him and his sister almost 18 years ago when they were kittens from a friend who thought their cat had been spayed.

He was part Himalayan/Siamese with the classic coloring, whilst his sister is grey with white boots and tuxedo front. Even tho she was smaller, she ruled over him.

Sounds like the same genetics that rule our backyard. One of our backyard adoptions is a classic Siamese pattern, her sister was a shorthaired grey tabby. That sister's kittens are an almost all black cat and a longhaired orange tabby.

That's what happens when multiple fathers are involved.

I know, but we haven't seen any Siamese or near Siamese cats in the neighborhood, nor any orange long haired ones.

And I don't mean she's a little bit Siamese looking, she's near full Siamese. As proof (and to prevent 'splodeys:

Immy still does this.

Dear Immy,

Yes, I'm happy it's cooler, too and that you want to snuggle with me in bed. But warn me! I almost screamed this morning when I suddenly felt a long furry thing against my back. I thought it was a mouse until you yelled at me for headrubs.

Your human
