They are all full-sized cute!

What breeds are they, or are they mixes?

Yeah that's been on my mind. I made sure to check with the vet that the cat would be put up for rehoming if they couldn't get it back to its owner. I would have offered to keep it except my other cat was really stressed about having it around and the stray was also preying on the birds and other animals in my yard.

Speaking of that, I hope some possums move back into my yard. I'm fairly certain that the stray cat killed the possums that used to visit, I spotted it outside the abandoned house around the corner with a freshly killed possum right next to it at about the same time my possums disappeared.

Aw, look at his splotchy face. I hope his family is overjoyed to hear he's found.

BB-8 is a border collie mix, R2-D2 has some lab, but is a general all around mutt, and Groot has a Cane Corso mastiff mom and an unknown, but likely boxer, dad.

And now I have learned about the Cane Corso mastiff breed. Thanks!

Will they let you know what happened?

If so, please update us when you get the chance.

I called them back today, they managed to get in touch with the owner. He was out of town but he drove back in collected the cat the next morning. It had been missing for 3 or 4 months and he wasn't expecting to ever see it again and apparently he was overjoyed to get it back.

A happy ending!

Yay for happy endings!

I am now cheerfully imagining happily purring cat and hugging human. Thanks, GM, for your part in bringing this about!

It took me well over a month of patient coaxing before the cat trusted me enough that it would let me pet it and I wouldn't have been able to get it into the cat carrier otherwise, the owner probably would have never got it back unless I'd put in that all that groundwork.

(Which isn't even why I did it, I just have to be friends with all the cats I see in the neighbourhood.)

So, we've settled on "Gracie" I think. I do enjoy saying, "goodnight Gracie," when I tuck her in on the couch for the night.

She continues to be an awesome dog. She did, for the first time since we've had her, steal food from the counter or the table last night. We aren't sure if she's just loosening up and testing limits, or if it was partly due to being left alone more than usual yesterday. (We were home, but out of the room when she stole the food.)

The only thing she doesn't seem to have any training in is walking on a loose leash. We will need to do a lot more work on that skill. But I already am thinking she could be a Canine Good Citizen candidate, and possibly a therapy dog candidate. One step at a time, of course, though.

She hadn't been interested in toys, but we found one she liked enough to chew a hole in and pull the stuffing out of: https://i.imgur.com/mWVTpxb.jpg

Well, this is my Roxy-kitty's first Christmas and apparently we either adopted a Hanukkah Cat or an Iconoclast, because she is constantly attacking our decorations. We've had kitties bat and play at the ornaments on the tree, but Roxy really goes all out making me wonder if, again, we've adopted a Hanukkah Cat or an Iconoclast, though she could just as easily be a Kwanzaa Kitty.

Anyway, here's a picture of Roxy-Kitty taken during one of the few moments she was Sleepy Sweetness under the Christmas tree, rather than all "Die Die Die!" under the Christmas tree.

In the interest of spreading more furry sweetness, here's one I took of Minnie-Kitty a few months ago. Few things more enjoyable than seeing a kitty sacked out in a sunbeam.

Both lovely kitties, but when I click on the Roxy link it downloads the photo, while Minnie opens the page.

9 days after I took the stray cat to the vet (and 8 days after they reunited it with its owner) I finally spotted a ringtail possum in my backyard again. I guess word must have got around that the danger has passed.

But guess who else I just spotted in my backyard:

The stray came back.
I'll ring the vets office in the morning and see if they want me to bring it back in again or whether they just want to send the owner directly to my house.

Your yard has possums, and birds, rats and a toad (or frog), and mincemeat. Why would the cat want to live anywhere else?

There's also trees to climb and bushes to snooze under and warm concrete to sunbake on and there's no dogs or noisy children and there's me who hands out scritches and plays chasey string games, it's pretty much a cat utopia.

Edit: the stray was nowhere to be seen this morning otherwise it'd be back at the vets office already

He may have gone back to his original home for the night, and not made it back over to your place yet.

Some cats appear to consider that they live at what the humans think are two different places.
