Default Man mansplains lady parts and mansplaining.

https://www.someecards.com/news/news...destroyed-him/

It’s…somewhat amusing. I won’t really bother quoting because most of the article is just reproducing a Twitter thread, but I checked the guy’s feed and the tweets are still there as of this posting.

(Mansplaining, for those who don’t know, is when a man attempts to educate more knowledgeable people in a subject. At least, I have to hope that the average woman is more knowledgeable here. I have heard the phrase “your penis touched my vagina” before.)

I've been kind of on the fence but this post destroys any doubt I had about whether you're just messing with us. Or doing it for some purpose. I haven't made up my mind about that yet.

I actually found a better article on the incident at WHTM (as usual): http://www.wehuntedthemammoth.com/20...as-to-step-in/

To summarise: the Guardian posted an article about a work titled “Me And My Vulva”, which is a photo collage of various vulvas. Then this guy shows up and tells everyone that the word is actually “vagina”. When he is called out for his mansplaining, both by those who possess vulvas and those who don’t, he then goes on to say that he’s not mansplaining (by mansplaining that concept) and then claiming that he was using the common usage of “vagina”. Which apparently hasn’t been updated since he was 5.

http://www.wehuntedthemammoth.com/20...vulva-is-back/

He’s back. And he doubled down.

Quote:
“I often resist changes in the language that are being made for what I take to be the wrong reasons,” he declares. After citing a number of not-particularly relevant examples — like “English speaking Canadians … pronouncing Quebec the way the French speakers do. And … Americans … pronouncing Chile the way Spanish speakers do.” — he gets to his real objection: he hates what he sees as “politically correct” language. He offers no logical explanation for this other than to suggest that such language is excessively euphemistic.

Quote:
I may be willing to go along with saying disabled person rather than handicapped person, I am not willing to say person with a disability rather than disabled person. I am not willing to say enslaved person rather than slave. I was willing to switch from the perfectly good word Negro to black, but I was not willing to move again from black to African American. And I am not willing to say undocumented immigrant rather than illegal alien. There is a general neurosis caused by activists who like to announce every few years that an existing usage is problematic and should be replaced by what they say.
Well, that’s your right, dude. But don;t be surprised if people call you out for being the jerk that you are

KAY-bek

if you pronounce it kwe-bek, you're mispronouncing it.

it would be like pronouncing America "Emerica"

In fairness, he's probably one of those who pronounces "America" as "Murka."

And, if we want to get technical, most "Americans" mispronounce the word anyway. Since the name is actually derived from Latin, it should be probably be pronounced the same way that Spanish speakers say it: Ah-MEH-ree-kah.

Can people mispronounce their own name (or their own country's name)?

Also, how do we know that the way Spanish speakers say it is the same way 15th Century Italian speakers said it? There seems to be some discrepency of how Edmind Halley's name was said and that was 150 years later and English.

Heck, even Stephen Colbert's own family can't agree on how their name should be said. Some use a silent t and some pronounce it.

And America shall be pronounced "Putincanprydemocracyfrommycolddeadhands"

That's Raymond Luxury Yacht. If I went around claiming that just "Luxury Yacht" was pronounced "Throatwobbler Mangrove", they'd put me away!
