Comment: Just wondering whether the attached letter is genuine.

It looks to be so, but who knows.

I can't find anything Rinfret did in 1988 that would warrant such a letter. Before and after? Well, here's his bio.

I can't see any reason not to believe it. I've confirmed that Rinfret was a columnist for the defunct Texas Business magazine, although I can't confirm the plausibility of the date and magazine address. It would hardly be Charlie Wilson's most outrageous antic.

The picture I found of Rinfret shows a man with rather full lips. Don't know if the letter is fake, but it is certainly inaccurate.

I'm not sure if you're making a joke here, but just in case you aren't -- "thin-lipped" is often used in a derogatory sense to indicate someone with a bad temper. It isn't meant to indicate the actual fullness (or lack thereof) of their lips.
