So, I'm upgrading with tax money. I'm going back and forth between the HTC Evo 4g LTE and the Samsung Galaxy S3.
I've heard the camera and music is better on the HTC, but I'm hoping some snopesters have had some experience with either of them.

I don't have any direct information, but I have a Galaxy S2 and absolutely love it.
Here's a direct comparison of the two phones that you may possibly find useful. http://smartphones.techcrunch.com/co...HTC-EVO-4G-LTE |

I did find that link, but I'm looking for personal experience.

I have an HTC one X which is probably the nearest direct equivalent of the S3 and I love it. It runs the latest version of Android(Jellybean) with all the benefits that brings and is capable of handling anything I throw at it. YMMV, of course, but it's worth taking a look if possible.

Next time I get a phone, I'm getting a camera that can take photos quickly. My main challenge with taking photo is getting my kid to stand straight and not make a silly face. With my cell phone, it takes a while to take a photo, but in that time, he does something silly. On my Ipad, I don;t ask him to pose.. I just rapid fire the camera button and then pick a pic I like
I would totally get a phone with the burst mode. Actually I think IPad has an app. I'll try that too. |

And that's the HTC, which is one of the things I really like that. Apparently, you can also take a video and then take a still photo out of it...

My S3 has had a burst mode since the last software upgrade. I just have to hold the button down and it does it automatically, so I don't even have to fiddle with the settings to switch from single-shot mode. I've only played with it a couple of times after first noticing it was there, but there doesn't seem to be any noticeable reduction in quality between the two modes. I also like the automatic panorama setting although—as I accidentally discovered—if someone is walking across the shot at just the right speed they'll turn up 6-8 times in one photo.

I've just recently upgraded my old HTC Desire to the HTC One S.
I'm still getting used to the newer features. It has a permanent battery that cannot be taken out and seems to be able to cope with power demands a lot better than my previous phone, not needing to be charged so often. The 8 MP camera is really good. It's fantastic for taking photos in poor light and has panoramic and continuous shot effects. The phone itself is lighter and thinner than its previous version and even though the slightly larger screen makes it easier to see things, I would have preferred the smaller version, simply because the newer one takes up more space in my pocket. From what I've seen of the Samsung, it was already that size. |
