Icon215 Anti-Muslim e-mail perpetuates lie inherent in bigotry

In an effort to back up the allegations, the message contains a link to, a website devoted to checking e-mails and other urban myth machines for any factual basis. When the question is posed if these photos show "Muslims praying in the streets of New York City," the Snopes answer is, "True."

That's "true" as in it happens once a year, as Snopes explains, for the American Muslim Day Parade, when Muslims gather for prayer after receiving the necessary permits, as they have since 1985, long before 9/11, the election of Barack Obama or the proposal to build a community center and mosque near Ground Zero. It does not happen, as the e-mails say, every Friday or in violation of city regulations.

Just want to thank you again for clearing up something I was wondering about/outright questioning!
The talk show I listen to had the photos posted on its webpage, but at the bottom there was an update with the truth--that the Muslims only prayed en masse on the street before Ramadan, not every day or every Friday.
I hope the person who emailed the photos to the host in the first place saw the update!
What was that Mark Twain said about a lie traveling the world twice before the truth even has its shoes on?

She is correct. We don't want anybody questioning what they are told. We certainly don't want anyone to find the truth.

Snopes? You've got to be joshing. There are too many factual emails floating around, quoting writings in the Koran, to take finger- pointers who hack out accusations of "anti-muslim bigotry" seriously. One doesn't have to be a bigot to keep one's head out of the sand....(no pun intended). Gone are the days when Islamaphobic is a dirty word.
And in the next post, she corrects her misspelling of "Islamophobic," and apologizes for it.
