Chicken This piece of KFC looks like a deep-fried rat

There’s something suspiciously ratty about this KFC.

Devorise Dixon had to double-take after unwrapping his deep-fried chicken in Wilmington, California.

He uploaded photos and a video to Facebook with the description: 'As I bit into it I noticed that it was very hard and rubbery which made me look at it. As I looked down at it I noticed that it was was in a shape of a rat with a tail.'

people make an assumption that the batter is a wet -- and rats will fall into it and drown -- but kfc batter is dry -- if a rat was in it -- they would notice it right away. (unless the rat was processed in the chicken plant .. then the kfc employee wouldn;t have a clue )

Hard and rubbery? If it was really a rat, the first thing you'd notice would be the fur.

They used to do deep fried rat at Kentucky Fried Chicken back in the 1980s - my school friend's aunt had some once, apparently. She found out by the usual means of getting a bone stuck in her throat, rather than because it looked like a rat, though. Good to see they're bringing back the old favourites.

You can see white meat under the batter. If it is a rat, it has been skinned, and that would mean it was done on purpose (and at the chicken processing plant). Skinning an animal and plucking feathers are not similar motions. I doubt a machine to do the latter would manage the former. Also, I think rat would probably be red meat, not white. Admittedly, I don't know that one for sure; it has been so long since I munched on a rat. In addition to that, I am just not seeing the resemblance. The "tail" is fat and short, and looks more like a bit of skin that came loose to me.

I wonder why when a piece of food looks like Jesus nobody claims it is actually the Savior, but if it looks like a rat it must be a rat.

I like in the statement given in snopes's article that KFC are:

aggressively trying to reach Mr. Dixon
It doesn't sound as though they want to see how he feels and politely ask him if there's anything they can do to make up for his supposed experience, does it?

I'd expect ketchup, but I'd also expect to have to pay twice as much for it. After all, I wouldn't want to try eating a rat without ketchup!

The BBC reported in June that the rat is actually a piece of chicken.

I sometimes think that these false claimants should sometimes be taken to court. Even if the people weren't hoping to get something oput of the claim then they cause huge embarrassment and financial loss to the companies being complained against.
