Icon05 Mr. Peabody and Sherman movie trailer

What... what? When? Did someone use the Wayback Machine and make this when we all weren't looking?

Huh...could go either way, really. It's missing a lot of the clever back and forth dialog of the old Jay Ward cartoons and replaced that with explosions. On the other hand, I did get a few good laughs out of the more clever sight gags (and Leonardo's "child"). I'd have to see another trailer to be sure.

I'm also rather iffy on the girl - not that she exists (I actually support diversifying what would otherwise be another very common boy and father adventure story), just that it's hard to get a read on whether she'll be an interesting and active character or a typical passive love interest.

On the plus side, mild interest out of me for a movie trailer is a good reaction these days. Frozen still makes me cringe and gag.

The Frozen trailer was like watching a horror movie I kept thinking "No, please not..." and then it would happen.

here's a different trailer (in Russian, but you'll be able to figure out what's going on.)

Even for a nostalgia property Mr. Peabody and Sherman is pretty... well off the cultural radar. Is this even gonna ping with anyone in the demographic for a children's focused animated movie?

Maybe not but it matters more who makes the decision about what they see. The idea is to get the parents (or even grandparents in this case) interested and then keep their children entertained. It's worked with lots of other titles.

Not horrible, but that's only the trailer -- all of the best jokes.

It is clear they don't know what Peabody and Sherman was all about, though.

That was awful. Wonder what could have been done with the property if it was someone other than DrekWorks. I mean DreamWorks. (That was actually a typo, I really hadn't intended to do that, but I'll go with it...)

If Mr. Peabody doesn't make at least 10 groan-worthy puns in the first 15 minutes of the movie I'd walk out.

I think it could be like Get Smart: not all that similar to the original show, but enjoyable on its own merit.

Remembering how terrible that Rocky and Bullwinkle movie was a decade or so ago, I'm not optimistic.
