Vanishing Was a "ghost ship" spotted on Lake Superior?

Jason Asselin was taking in the fall foliage with a friend in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. When they stopped at Lake Superior to photograph a gorgeous rainbow, things got spooky.

I loved this bit:
Quote:
“It really just didn’t belong there, I’ve seen ships before and it looked nothing like that,” said Asselin. “I’ve been there before and never saw it before.”

Asselin contends that he wasn’t scared, just confused. His friend agreed they were seeing something inexplicable.

“He too felt it was a strange experience and out of this world,” said Asselin.
You see quotes like that all the time from people who have seen UFOs or bigfoot or similar "unexplained" mysteries. They assume they're fairly knowledgeable therefore if they can't identify something it couldn't possibly be mundane and HAS to be something super weird and "out of this world".

It's probably just a ship he hasn't seen before.

Fata Morgana.

Fairly classic example, too.

Was the ghost ship larger than most (as big ships go)?

Without a point of reference, that would be very hard to guess, no?

*snerk*

Superior, it's said, never gives up her dead, so it must be a fata morgana...
