Which is why I said presumably. Given no other information, it is often a safe bet that married men are straight, especially today when it is much more acceptable to be gay than it was even twenty years ago. The high public profile is the other half of why I discredit the picture.

I don't suppose McGreevey came out through a clearly posed graphic porn pic? I would think that more likely from a politician than a TV host tho.

A few things as evidence of a photoshop if not total proof. One side of "Adam's" head has gray hair. The other side is red like the real Adam's hair. Also, there is reflection off the pubils of the eyes, other...er.. content, and the glasses themselves but there is no reflection off the lenses that would presumably be in the glasses. It's as if the glasses were added later. Also, the legs look to belong to a man heavier than Adam looks. Like I said, nothing definitive, but something to think about.

The man in the photo has a pretty fair amount of chest hair. I was trying to recall if the real Adam has much chest hair from when he did the gold paint myth (couldn't find any photos), but here's one of him that shows a fair amount of his chest:

My vote? Someone who sorta looks like him.

I read about this somewhere on LJ but I can't remember where offhand. The posters there thought it was false, and said if you went to other pictures in the original directory there were more images of that guy and you could tell it wasn't Adam Savage. Apparently the guy just looks a lot like him.

ETA: Went back and looked through the directory (the things I do in the name of research. :P) This one (NSFW/NFBSK obviously) shows the guys face and looks nothing like Adam, imo.

Why would a straight man be any less likely to have the picture in question taken, though? It's not as if it's actually of sexual contact with another male (unless all of the pictures on the site are meant to be of one person).

I do seem to recall a distinctly non-hairy chest in several water-based episodes. Certainly not thick and lush, at any rate.

But then, I'm at work and haven't opened the OP link to compare just how bushy we're talking about here.

Some people like the sensation, especially of it being withdrawn. IIRC, there was a chap who used to stick aquarium tubing into his urethra. Unfortunately he had about half a metre of tubing to play with and once it got into his bladder it coiled round and round and became knotted so he couldn't withdraw it and required medical assistance.

There are little TENS probes (electrical probes for use on pain relief units) that can be used inside the urethra for people who like that sort of thing.

Fandom Wank did a pretty good job of getting to the bottom of it. Not only is the picture fake, but, as it turns out, a lot of the "fan reactions" may have been faked, too, since in the end, no one other than the trolls even saw the picture until people started getting upset about it (it was supposedly posted on the Discovery Channel message boards, but evidence is now showing it never was, making this a really bizarre troll situation). The Encyclopedia Dramatica entry linked in the FW post (note: it's safe to always approach ED as NSFBSK, but they have a copy of the pic up, so it definitely is here), for all that it's a troll's wikipedia, has even more dirt on the situation and how it may or may not have unfolded.

In all honesty, in the context of the topic, everything I said turned out sounding a little wrong. :P I edited and deleted what I was writing several times to keep it from happening, but apparently I missed one. Guess I should have intentionally made puns and saved some face.

The site Oh No They Didn't did a thread on this. It is 13 pages in but it seems someone found another picture of the "Adam look alike" same position different lighting and no glasses... and he really doesn't look much like Adam at all.

It looks like everyone has come to the general conclusion that this is just a guy that looks like Adam but I disagree with some of the reasons why.
a)guy in the pic has less/more hair than Adam-men (especially recently) shave and wax much more than ever, it's just generally become exceptable so I don't think hair can even be used as a factor (unless may be it's a different color, but that could even be explained)
b)he's not gay, he's married-okay, I know people are really not naive enough to think that anyone who is married to a member of the opposite sex is straight? I also think that the picture itself has to mean he's gay. Yes, most likely that sort of content would be viewed mostly by gay men but many men who participate in gay porn are straight (I'm aware this could be debatable, as to what's truly straight)
c)a celebrity like him wouldn't do something like that-look at all the celeb sex tapes that have leaked as well as intimate pictures. When I first saw the "Adam" pic, I was reminded of the one of Jeff from Survivor that was floating around a few years ago (you'll have to look that one up yourself, sorry). It was the same position but unsavory nonetheless. Celebs frequently make bone-headed decisions like this, especially early on.

Okay, I'll move on now, I was wrong. I wasn't really sure if I though it was real (I mean a real photo of Adam, not a look alike), I just definitely thought it was not shopped.
