My bf and I were looking through YouTube for Looney Tunes... and of course we got onto the Porky Pig swearing video, which led to this.
What do you think? |

I'm pretty sure he said "Nice hat, you stupid fop"
To me, it doesn't even sound close to anything resembling a you can't say that on television bit. |

The "p" at the end of "fop" does have a decidedly "k"-ish quality, but that seems to me to be a product more of the harsh acoustics of the room rather than of the original recording in the game.
--Logoboros ETA: And even "fok" is still one phoneme away from NSFBK-dom. |

It sounds quite a lot like swearing, but far enough for plausible deniability. I'm agreeing that it was (at least officially) meant to sound like "fop".

Well it still has my bf in stitches. :P We figured it had to be another word.

I couldn't tell what "swear word" he could possibly have been supposed to be saying, or even which part or the sentence was supposed to sound like swearing. The last letter is very clearly a p, and there's an o in the middle. I assumed it was meant to sound like "sod", or that "sop" had some meaning I wasn't aware of. I still can't see how people think it sounds anything like the f-word.

To me it sounded like, "Nice hat you stupid sot."

it doesn't look like a game though... it looks like it's a 'Duck Dodgers' episode being played back on a DirecTV DVR...
and yes, I think it is a Fop (doesn't that basically mean Dumbass? so, still cussing?), but it does sound like a "k"... I think Logo is right. |

No, a fop is a dandy. He's still making fun of the hat.

I think the real question is how did Marvin get into Mickey Mouse's pants?

It's fop. Finest in the shop. And we have some shepherd's pie peppered With actual shepherds on top... |

That's what I thought. I heard "fop", but with allowances for the speech impediment, my brain translated as sot.

Odd, am I the only one who heard "Nice hat you stupid schlock"?
I admit I might be wrong, because I do have serious hearing loss, and tinnitus in both ears... Atlanta (the sirens don't help...) Jake ETA: After reading the comments here, I went back and listened. There is definitely an "F" sound at the beginning of the word in question... |

Wouldn't he have slipped him a Mickey? Or is that too on the nose?

I thought he said, "stupid flop." Although, I don't know what a flop is, so fop might be better. I'm pretty sure it's a p on the end, though.

I also heard nothing even remotely close to profanity. I heard "fop" like most everyone else.
I did think it was strange that they would pick the word as fop is very old fashioned and out of date now (even when that cartoon was new it would have been an outdated term). Whoever said a fop is a dandy is exactly right. The word fop was usually used to describe a somewhat effeminate (though still heterosexual), very fashionable man. Kind of like that whole "metrosexual" thing that went around for a few years there. A hundred years ago and more they would have been called fops and dandies. Weird choice of words, but that's what he says. |

I will have to concede it sounds like 'fop' although it doesn't sound like what the person from You Tube thinks it does.
To me it almost sounds like he called him a stupid 'fart'. |
