Mall rumor nothing but a suburban legend
Quote:
I grew up near Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, and it seemed every month there was a rumor about danger in the parking lot. Someone was hiding under cars ... or putting fake fliers on cars ... or flashing female shoppers ...
Each time someone told me one of these stories, they'd invariably, with all sincerity, assure me they had heard this from a police officer ... or it happened to a friend ... or maybe it was on the news. Of course, the specifics were vague for a reason: None of it was true.
I was reminded of those suburban legends last week when I got an e-mail about some Aurora "danger." Gang members were going to shoot certain people at a certain mall ... or maybe it was a store ... or maybe ...
