Icon220 Emerald City in 'Gone with the Wind'

Comment: I was told many
years ago that in the movie, "Gone With The Wind" that if you look very
carefully while Scarlette is running through the fog, that you can see the
Emerald City from Wizard of Oz because they were filiming on adjoining
lots. I have searched for years and have yet to come up with anything. I
think I may have seen something once, but that was difficult to find then,
as I was at a friends house and they had it on slow motion.

According to IMDB Victor Fleming directed "Gone with the Wind" after finishing with "The Wizard of Oz". The remaining scenes in OZ, shot by another director were mostly the black and white Kansas scenes.

I don't think the Emerald City was even a set as much as a backdrop on a sound stage anyway.

To follow up Beachlife's comment, I think the exterior views of the Emerald City in The Wizard of Oz are from a matte painting while the "interior" scenes of the City would have been filmed on a separate stage from Gone With the Wind. As a matte painting, it would've been very difficult for it to have shown up in GWTW, since the mattes are generally added in post-production. (Most of the GWTW's scenes of Atlanta burning also used matte paintings.)
