low and behold when they arrive guess who is there ????? yep the married
couple who don't love each other anymore, but think they have found their
soul mates.

so the question is: is it considered cheating if you were cheating with
your current spouse and didn't know it ???
and would you still file for divorce now claiming they were cheating or
would you try to rekindle what is obviously in the heart of the
other.....and give it another shot....

I say, get a divorce and then marry the person you found as a soulmate.

In all seriousness, it depends on the couple, there's no Universal Rule for this type of thing. Both parties have technically done wrong, so it's up the couple wether they're both willing to forgive each other and move on, or if this is the final straw and means it's time for a divorce.

They would also want to step back and examine why they liked each other online, but could no longer stand each other in real life. Perhaps there are things they could both change to be more like that online person they each fell in love with.

Personally I wouldn't be able to forgive someone for cheating online because that was a huge part of my first marriage ending. But in this case if I was doing it too, I don't know how I'd feel.

oddly enough something similar to this came up the other day when me and some housemates were watching Superman. if Clark and Lois got together, then Lois slept with Superman, how would he react? technically she was still only with him, but she thought it was someone else...

I find it hard to believe that Lois would "get together" with Clark, and never see him without his glasses. Or that she could then sleep with Superman without realizing that she'd slept with this guy before. I mean, wouldn't there be a thousand subliminal cues, like body scent, voice, kissing technique and I don't know what-all -- I just don't buy the concept that she wouldn't have known.

Then again, I've always had grave doubts about "mistaken identity" sex in general. I just can't see getting that close to someone without realizing who it is (or isn't).
