Why does it seem strange to see "David Bowie" and "fight" in the same sentence? He never looked like the fighting type to me.

I presume he didn't win the fight.

He was a lot younger when it happened (and to boot he is still friends with the guy). It was a fight over a girl.

Personally I would have thought David Knuckle had a nice ring to it.

What about a double-barrelled name: David Ring-Knuckle?

Yow!

My first thought at the thread title was "Are deep shimmering pools that I would love to fall into...wow that was cheesy."

HEY!!!! I totally take offense to that. Though I'm sure many of my non-Bowiefan friends would agree with you!

Just 'cause it would be heresy for me to not add something to the thread, I'll point out that the friend who punched him is named George Underwood.

Everything else has been covered.

I know a cat who has "David Bowie eyes" as the result of an apparent stroke.

Meet Rupert:

The first time I had my pupils dilated for an eye exam, one of them contracted much faster than the other. I happened to look in a mirror before I left the optometrist's and noticed that one pupil was fully dilated and the other was contracted to almost normal size. I looked much like Rupert, above. Freaked me out a bit, although I suppose I would have gotten used to it if it had been permanent.

It really screws with your depth perception too. I have had one eye dilated before and found myself slamming on my brakes in the car because suddenly there is a lot less room between me and the car in front of me.

Total hijack, but when my kids were talking about their JPop stars and how they "dress up weird" including "some guys who dress like girls", I mentioned it had all been done before by David Bowie. When they pulled the, "Who's David Bowie", I showed them some pictures of him in his various variations.

They were impressed.

Kids these days....

And for some of us, the "dressing weird" and "dressing up like girls" is part of what draws us to the likes of Bowie, Gackt and Malice Mizer. *dreamy sigh* Also, most bands who dress in flamboyant ways are not JPop, they are visual kei.

You could also have pointed out that Japan has a long history of cross-dressing in its entertainment, starting with kabuki way back when.

Probably because he's experimented with androgyny and gender-bending and we tend to think of androgynous or effeminate men as not tough enough to be in fistfights.

They know more about this sort of stuff than I do. So the problem is me.

It's all Greek to me.....

"But it was my wife that overheard this conversation at our kid's school (between two teachers)...

"Who did that Smoke on the Water song?"
"Marshall Tucker..."
"That's what I thought....."

Not much new to add. The late Mark Frankel, a lesser-known actor, had the same condition, but brown eyes, so it was much less apparent. When I found out about his eyes - a playground injury involving a thrown rock - I immediately thought of Bowie. Like many others, I'd always assumed Bowie's eyes were two different colors.

Any-that's one heckuva black eye!-te

Oh yes, I remember wearing an eye patch for a day or two after having a Foreign Object removed from one eye, and when the patch was removed, I too had David Bowie Eyes for a while. Freaky.

Rupert had a similar experience. I mean, not driving, but it took the poor kitty a while to retrain himself to jump up on the deck railing, the bed, etc. Mom was very excited the day he was finally able to jump up on the recliner and then to the top of the armoire.

Sorry, Rupert the Grumpy Old Man already has a cushy gig taking care of my mother, lounging on the deck, annoying his sidekick Audrey, and staring at the mountains.
