Sure. And they are the characters I care about more, as well. The replacements just never get the kind of love the originals get.

Why didn't Gary Burgoff get a show then? He was in both the movie and the TV show.

For another "reboot" series, how about a version of Gilligan's Island where the characters are all 20-somethings?

Jonas "Skipper" Grumby is a blue-collar guy who inherited his dad's charter tour boat service, and he and his friend Gilligan went into business together to keep it going.

Roy "The Professor" Hinkley is a brilliant but nerdy engineering student with a hidden side: he's a doomsday prepper. That's how he can build all that amazing stuff out of bamboo and coconuts.

Ginger Grant is a vapid, self- and selfie-obsessed YouTube star. She has a major freakout when she learns that the island doesn't have cell coverage. She could get an arc where she starts to shed the shallow persona and come around.

Mary Ann Summers wouldn't need to change much for the update. She could still be a practical, likeable girl with a solid head on her shoulders.

Thurston Howell, III is a stereotypical fratboy dudebro in Harvard thanks to his father's pull at the university. He's there with his girlfriend, "Lovey" Wentworth (going by her maiden name... they're not married yet!). Like Ginger, they can go through some character development and become much more likeable as the show goes on. (This character's actual first name was never mentioned on the show... maybe she could be Natalie in honor of the original actress.)

You don't want to see that show, you just wanted to show off that you knew the Skipper and the Professor's real names.

You are going on a big date - for yourself, pick the ideal restaurant, film, and post-film activity that you will enjoy and showcase your personality to your new paramour.

Mine are: Swiss Chalet, a Pixar animated film, 5 pin bowling.

He did get a show - after M*A*S*H, they made W*A*L*T*E*R about his life back in the states. It did not make it past the pilot stage, and was rather odd. They lost the farm, he sent his mom to live with his aunt, and he ended up working for the police in St. Louis.

For the new question, I would go with The New Yorker (a steakhouse in SLC), whatever Star Wars movie was available, and a trip to the dog park. Of course, I would be taking my wife, and she likes all of those as well, so it would all work out

Oh come on now, that is such a ridiculous premise that no one would buy it was a real attempt at a TV show. If you are going to make stuff up, at least make it semi plausible.

I shouldn't participate in thread resurrection, but I felt like it, because I watched a clip with Don, Jr. and now I'm almost positive when casting for people to play the Trump family, Christian Bale would be perfect. Though he would have to add an orange spray-tan and perpetual sweatiness to his American Psycho character.

Though I Kaley Cuoco remains perfect to play Ivanka, but what about the rest? Who plays 45, Melania, Jared, and Eric?

Phillip Seymour Hoffman would have made a perfect Trump. But that could not happen now. But, if Seth Rogan is available, I think he could do the role some justice.

Try Cameron Diaz for Melania. She can play hard if she got the role.

Jared, that is Zac Efron. If Zac is a little too young, perhaps Johnny Galecki would do.

Eric, I would prefer a young Gary Busey, because that is all I see when I see the man. But, I would accept Jon Heder.

I like your selection for Don Jr. But I would swap Kaley Cuoco for Amy Adams.

And thanks for resurrecting this thread. I should put some more scenarios up.

Lex Luthor. Because he's been holding his own against an opponent that won every superpower lottery. Doctor Doom does have more than a single opponent, but even their powers combined are less than Superman's.

I concur....
Superman needs to use a piece of Kryptonian mirror just to shave, he's not (usually when vs Luthor) a member of a team that can be mind-tricked apart.

The FF while strong have undeniable weaknesses that Doom exploits.

But Reed Richards is on a similar intellectual level as Doom.

Superman isn't nearly as smart as Luthor.

Superman has an eidetic memory, is the child of two of the smartest beings on a planet of hyper intelligent beings, and can think faster than a super computer while under a yellow sun. He is absolutely as smart as Luthor.

And yet Batman and Luthor are both regularly portrayed as being much smarter than Superman.

Superman doesn't work up to his full potential.

Because, most of the time, why would he need to?

I see that today is Kalevala Day in Finland (thanks to Wikipedia). I've read a pretty good English translation of the poem, but right now, knowing this just makes me want to dig out my Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Deities and Demigods manual and read the section on Finnish mythology, and then follow that up with a viewing of The Day The Earth Froze (to show some degree of respect, not the MST3K edition).
