Please forgive my confusion, but according to Google conversion, one
kilometer equals 0.621371 mile. That looks to me like one mile is SHORTER
than one kilometer, making the teacher's claim true and yours ...not so
much.

If it helps, I went to http://www.google.com and typed in "convert 1
kilometer to mile" to get the conversion I explained to you. Did I miss
something?

Comment: I read Snope's rebuttal of the "lost day". In the rebuttal,
there is a statement that one cannot determine if time stopped.
Astra-scientists can ascertain if there is a time discrepancy by the
movement of the stars in relation to each other and to earth. If one
projects these relationships back in time, and there is no loss of time,
then there should be no discontinuity with respect to each other. The
different stars and galaxies move at different rotational and lateral
rates and thus any discontinuity in the projected paths would provide
evidence of a change.

I do not dispute that NASA had not run the calculations, but I don't
believe that Snope's can give a definite "False" to the concept of a lost
period of time until this exercise is accomplished.
