This thread makes me glad that I don't have "TV" and the only exposure to commercials I get is through hulu and occasionally in the break room at work.

We used to get the Superbowl 100% commercial free on national satellite TV, actually called BS, but we haven't had BS on our TV for the past couple of years so I haven't been able to watch the Superbowl (with or without the other BS). I really wanted to see the Ravens play this year but other important things got in the way of having BS installed.

Ganz, if you don't get BS on your TV, you don't get anything at all, do you?!

Those Cox Bundle commercials with the dad who tries to hard are still around, and getting worse...

And here's me, every time I see one of them...

I guess not. I don't watch TV. It's just so much noise to me. I watch some baseball and American football commercial free when I get the chance, often with the audio channel that has no commentary. (It's not that I have anything against TV; I just don't enjoy it very much.)

I see fewer ads on my TV than I do when I watch online because I rarely watch things live and can fast forward commercials. The online services don't let you do that. (ETA: with the exception of Netflix which is about the only place I watch any TV shows online anymore, but episodes don't tend to end up their until the entire season is over.)

Same here. I watch just about everything from my DVR due to working second shift. Now I avoid watching anything "realtime" unless I have no choice. It's so nice to just hit the "60 sec forward" button and avoid all the NFBSK.

We have a freaking Geico commercial playing on the overhead at work now. WTH? It doesn't have any tie in with the company at all. It's just a straight Geico ad.

Do they tap into a local radio station for the music, or do they contract out to a "music service?" If the latter, I suspect the "service" has discovered a way to "enhance" their revenue.

I believe the service comes from the Muzak company. I know it's not a regular radio station. This is the first, non-CVS commercial I've ever heard on it.

Considering how little attention the customers pay to our commercials, I don't see how this is a good idea. We had a "the price of stamps is going up on January 27th" commercial running for a month. Half the customers I offered stamps to claimed they had no idea stamp prices had gone up.

Between this new one and the Minute Clinic one, I want to cut my ears off.

I'm OK with most of the Geico "happier than" ads, but the newest with Dikambe Mutumbo is super obnoxious.

Yeah, that one annoys me too. Especially because he's goaltending in most of them.

DD and I like that one because he seems to be having so much fun. And we like his laugh.

I like that one too. I find the two guys at the end of those commercials to be the most annoying part.

I wish Sonic would get over the "two guys in the car"ads.
I won't both of them to chock on the new fit long, have terminal brain freeze with the new slushies, or something equally wrong so I don't ever have to see them again.

Telecom compaies and radio ads where a "caller" is asking about a service.

Really?
They got through and they want to chat about whata great offer the company is offering and not how long they had to wait on the line for a person to answer instead of a machine?

YMMV, it's one of my favorites. Maybe it's just because I always liked Mutombo.

We went to the cinema last night (first time in about 6 months, and this time without the kids!).

Anyway, one of the adverts started off showing small children who apparently had different kinds of superskills (not quite superpowers, although done in that sort of genre). One had amazing foresight; one was a technical whizz; one was super-agile etc... And then one sort of just really liked the colour red. And then these children grew up to be.... the technical staff and cabin crew of a Virgin plane! Yay! Except not yay, because both the women were cabin crew, and their special skills were apparently being really good at wearing red lipstick, and catching customer spillages; whereas two of the men were (of course) the pilot, and the designer.

Hate.

I just saw another one that makes me The VW Jetta with the guy who is on a long road trip with a woman who likes polka music and has an annoying laugh. The horror! OK, the laugh might get irritating, but why is polka music an automatic punch line?
