Jimi Hendrix is looking for the truth

Comment: I recently heard from three different sources that at Jimi
Hendrix's last concert, someone yelled out, "You are the truth." To which
Jimi stops, and responds, "I'm not the truth, I'm looking for the truth."
And goes on to add, "If anyone here knows what the truth is, come to and
take the mic right now and tell us." No one responds. There are some
slight variations on the story, but the versions that I've heard are all
similar.

The concert (September 6, 1970 in Germany) is on Youtube. I have heard he was booed because he had canceled an appearance the night before, but I'd never heard anything about an exchange like the OP.

I'm not sure why this is supposed to be noteworthy. Just seems like normal stage banter. Is it supposed to be significant that no one responded? (I doubt most people would)

Well, today, I think it's almost inevitable someone would come back with "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!" but back then, not so much.
