Comment: I was told today that Hillary Clinton signed a law stating that
it would be illegal for any American to insult or defame the name of

She's not scheduled to do that until January 2017.

Really? An End? I could see a tackle or maybe a guard, but the world seems a bit big and slow for an end.

Actually, the world might make a great tight end. If the call was for blocking, it would take the defense months or years (literally) to run around it. And, unless the NFL allows levers, don't even imagine you could move the world. As far as receiving goes, the world would have a bit of an issue as everytime it touched the ball, it would automatically be an incomplete pass.

And slow? The world could run the 40 yard dash in 0.00005 seconds. Let's see Vernon Davis beat that.

Comment: In an online investment newsletter, my wife found an allegation
that FDR, in 1933, via Executive Order, required private citizens to sell
their gold to the government at very low prices. Is this a true
statement? Was there an Executive Order by FDR that had to to with gold
ownership, gold reserves, or gold issues in the economy?

Comment: My friend recently told me that the Marines were not used in the
D-day Normandy invasion in 1944. I would like to have some closure on the
subject so that I can know if I have been lied to all of my life.

Nope, no Marines at Normandy on D-Day. US order of battle was the US First Army.

I thought pretty everyone knows the Marines did the Pacific, the Army did Europe and Africa. (The Army also was the initial force in the Philippines and a few other places in the Pacific).

The Pacific was divided into two main commands, the Pacific Ocean Area under Nimitz, which was primarily a Navy/Marine operation through island groups such as the Gilberts, Marianas, etc., and the Southwest Pacific Area under Gen MacArthur, which included the Philippines, New Guinea, and Borneo. The Solomons campaign overlapped both commands.

ETA: Didn't want to snub our Aussie friends by failing to mention the significant contribution by Aussie soldiers int the SWPA

I agree with all except the last sentence, that a legal way around the
Second Amendment can be interpretted by the Supreme Court. The
Constitution does not give the Supreme Court authority to interpret
matters of Constitutionality. It is therefore, reserved to the states or
to the People.

If the movies are to be believed, the world would play a team made of Jack, Jill, Scott Pilgrim, and Bobby Fischer.

I wonder if this person is from a Marine's family and has been told all their life that the Marines are the toughest branch of the US military and that they won every major battle in US history and the rest of the US military are weak and would be nothing without the ....blah blah blah blah, you get the picture.

Comment: True or False? Was there an Irish Holocaust from 1845-1850
wherein British soldiers shipped soooo much of Ireland's foodstuffs to
England that the Irish did not have enough food to sustain life, therefore
causing millions of Irish lives to be lost due to malnutrition, disease,
etc?

Comment: I keep seeing things blasting the fact that Jane Fonda is going
to play Hanoi Jane in a movie, especially in light of the things that
happened with her during the Vietnam War. Is it true?
