Default Sliding down a flight of stairs

http://sports.break.com/people-are-awesome

There's a bunch of clips in this video, but I was wondering about the one at 3:54 which shows a guy "sliding" down a flight of stairs. Real?

They've got the "running on water" viral Hi-Tec ad at about the 50-second mark, which is definitely fake (in the full version you can see that the water is just very shallow).

The stairs bit doesn't look particularly unlikely to me - not compared to some of the others, certainly. It looks like a sort of moonwalk variation. Nearly all his weight's on his right foot and he's just sort of gliding the other one.

Quite a few of the others give me vertigo!

They have a few videos we've talked about here before.

The stair thing looks just like Richard W says, like a moonwalk thing. Could also be sped up, for all we know.

I love the gym ball backflip. Not that I'm going to be trying it, but it looks deceptively easy! And major kudos to the little girl parking the bike. Woo hoo!

The girl going through the basketball hoop has been discussed here before too.

Put some silicone spray on the stairs and it's easy enough to do that slide (although the next guy who does not know that it's sprayed will probably slip and break his neck). I've done it on icy stairs in the winter, although with a slightly wider stance for stability, having the feet about one step apart, and the stairs where shorter, just 6-7 steps. It's not hard, it's a bit like skiing on a bumpy slope. The key is to have enough speed to keep sliding, because if you run out of speed, you are likely to fall, but as long as you have sufficient speed, it will just be a quick bump-bump-bump. Start off with a less steep stair as well, as that's easier.

Now, one might wonder, why have I done something like that? Well, when you go down the same stairs every day in the winter, you get bored. Also, when they are too icy, I actually found it safer and more stable than trying to go slowly and risk an unexpected slip.

However, there is a risk that you might fall the first few times, so be careful and don't blame me. Make sure you use proper protection (which, depending on local traditions might be a helmet, a condom, a gun or a bad attitude) until you know it by heart.

I don't know, but I do know I saw the trick @ 4:16 done by Yosemite Sam many years before.

The guy sliding on the stairs was the only one the OP questioned?

Maybe he used something akin to this.

I was very amused by the guy with the pogo stick.

For what it's worth, I used to slide down like that (generally, the last 3-4 stairs in a flight). Now that I'm older, stiffer and more afraid to fall, I don't do it anymore and I couldn't repeat it - or even explain how it's done. But it works.

Exactly, it works and it's not that difficult. I'd recommend a wider stance, though, kind of like on a skateboard.

Tom Hanks does this at the end of Burbs, after the building explodes.

I've done it many times on accident and a few on purpose, though I cannot pull it off consistently.

When I have done this neither foot was in front.
