Comment: Colby's Fun Facts
A gemstone is a hard mineral concentration found inside the body. The most common type of gemstone forms in the uterus of pregnant women. These are known as birthstones since they will come out when the child is born. It is western tradition for the mother to rummage through the after birth to find this stone and make a piece of jewelry out of it for their child. The mother will often eat the placenta after finding the birthstone. The type of birthstone that develops is determined by the month that the child will be born. The most valuable of these is the diamond, which develops in women who give birth in April. Women will often intentionally get pregnant in July, and start developing a baby that is due in April. Never having intended on keeping the baby, they will abort it before the third trimester and keep the diamond for themselves. Other due-months will yield valuable stones, but no others are worth six months of pregnancy. The stone will develop differently depending on the health of the mother during her pregnancy. There are many classes that teach expecting mothers how to develop their birthstone as large and of the highest quality possible. Men are also capable of developing gemstones, although they are not nearly as valuable. The most common gemstone developed by males is the kidney stone. As the name indicates, this stone is formed in the kidney, and is then passed through the urethra. Expelling any gemstone from the body is extremely painful. That is why the pain of passing a kidney stone is often compared to the pain of passing a birthstone during labor. Many studies confirm that it is more painful to pass a kidney stone that a birthstone, which concludes that men have a higher tolerance for pain than women. Thanks to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History for the question! |

Comment: Is it true that Texas has a law on the books that makes "they
needed killing" a legitimate defense against a charge of murder? Looking around online, I can find lots of instances of this being quoted, but nothing definitive either way. |

I got caught (not catching that it was a joke) in the forward of this by one of my ultra rightwing friends, because the image did not load with the email. But it took me only about five seconds to figure that Obama could not have signed off on EO 12003, as 12003 was written during the Carter Administration, information I sent back to my friend.
As a joke for the chair, interesting, but the original writer should have selected an EO number in the range of those really signed off by Obama. Last edited by UrbanLegends101; 10 November 2012 at 06:56 AM. Reason: spelling and adding thoughts |

Comment: Is the following story circulating as a forward on the Internet
true? "A Worthless Book." A collector of rare books ran into an acquaintance who told him he had just thrown away an old Bible that he found in a dusty, old box. He happened to mention that Guten-somebody-or-other had printed it. "Not Gutenberg?" gasped the collector. "Yes, that was it!" "You idiot! You've thrown away one of the first books ever printed. A copy recently sold at an auction for half a million dollars!" "Oh, I don't think this book would have been worth anything at all," replied the man. "It was scribbled all over in the margins by some guy named Martin Luther." |

Comment: Rumor collected on Facebook today (December 14), which appears
related to your article at http://www.snopes.com/science/astronomy/blackout.asp May want to add this to the list of rumors on that page: ----------------------------------- It has been confirmed by NASA as well as several other international space agencies and I've looked into it myself: On December 21st, sometime in the late afternoon, the Earth's rotation (caused by its angular momentum that has been sustained since its formation) will shift our region of the globe in a position where it will NOT be directly receiving the sun's rays for what could be 12-13 HOURS! This phenomenon will likely cause temperatures to plummet and energy demand to increase as people try to keep warm. Driving conditions could become more dangerous with the diminished ambient light. Authorities also warn that crime may increase during this period as it is happening close to the holidays. I personally don't believe it will be the end of the world as this global event has happened before in recorded history, but it IS a coincidence that it will happen on December 21st. |

Comment: Morgan Freeman's awesome take on an experience he had the other
day: "Like many of you, I was driving my car the other day when I was shocked and saddened by something I heard coming from my car's engine. As if that weren't enough, the little light thingy on the dash came on. Many will argue in the coming days and weeks what exactly in tarnation that light is supposed to be. Is it Aladdin's lamp? Some sort of incense burner? A weirdly shaped teapot? Like most people, I can't answer that question, but I did know that something had to be done. I took the car to the car dealer, and there seemed to be no shortage of opinions among the so-called experts on what that light is supposed to represent. But the experts did agree on one thing. It was about the car's oil, and it had to change. There were still many questions running through my mind. Should it be 10-W-40? 10-W-30? What does that even mean? But I did know one thing for sure - one way or another, the oil must be changed." Morgan Freeman Click "Like" and "Share" if you agree that automotive oil should be changed, and that it's important because Morgan Freeman said it. ----- The above post was seen on FB tonight and Id like to know if it was actually made by Morgan Freeman. |
