Comment: The Bob Marley song I Shot the Sheriff is based on a real
Jamaican incident, where Robert Marlin shot Sheriff John Brown in self-defense, but was framed for the shooting of his deputy. He was exonerated years later with DNA evidence. Apparently the deputy was despondent over the rejection by his lover, Sheriff John Brown and used Marlin's gun to kill himself, which is why Marlin was accused of the murder. |
