This C-SPAN video shows (about 12:12) Romney talking about a close family member dying from an illegal abortion. He doesn't talk about who it is or the donations to PP. This Salon article confirms the request for donations to PP but says she died from an infection, not from bleeding to death.

Romney's talked about it before, and use it to explain his commitment to abortion being legal.

According to the Salon article, she was his brother-in-law's sister, but a lot of people (including me) would likely shorthand that to "sister-in-law."

I'm in two minds about this. On the one hand, she doesn't deserve to have her private medical history trotted out to make a political point. OTOH, it's a really important political point, and Romney already used it to score points. back when he claimed to be pro-choice.
