This video should explain it all, Psihala. Or at least make you laugh. (Warning, a couple of F-bombs, so keep a couple of bucks handy for the swear jar)

The State Farm insurance commercial where the parents are kicking their just graduated son out of the house so they can use his room for (among many ideas) a walk in closet full of shoes or a sauna. I know I'm overthinking what is essentially a fluffy commercial played for laughs but I guess it just bugs me when I know so many twenty somethings who are living at home because of today's economy not because they just can't leave the nest. The sterotype of the mooching kid and the exasperated parent is wearing thin to me.

RE:Beer Commericials:

I mostly hate just how hypermasculine they are. Especially since, according to the great and wise prophet known as Dave Barry, most American beer sucks. According to him, it's like Americans are drinking Barry Manilow beer, while the rest of the world drinks Ray Charles beer.

I have to agree with him that the rest of the world probably has fewer hypermasculine beer commercials, simply because their beer is actually good and therefore drinkers of it are fairly secure in their masculinity.

But I can't say for certain: I don't drink.

This isn't strictly a commercial, but there's a billboard right by my local grocery store talking about how saving money is important. It depicts a woman who's just gotten married to a groom whose head is replaced by Lincoln from the five dollar bill. I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be a symbol of all the money she's saved, but every time I see it I think that I'm being told "If you save lots of money you'll marry Abraham Lincoln."

OK, I've got a question for my fellow Central Ohio Snopesters; are you all as annoyed by the Hatfield Kia Caveman as I am?

That voice! It burns!

Okay Axe I've actually defended you in the past, as generally I see your ads as over the top parodies of the "Use our product, get laid" subtext so common in commercials.

But your latest commercial is just stupid, vapid and insulting to both genders.

The commercial is about a disembodied head of hair flirting with a disembodied pair of breasts, topped off with the tagline "Hair... it's what girls notice first."

I'm... not... making... this... up.

I was watching TV with my mom over the weekend when that Axe commercial came on. Let's just say that our normal chit-chat while commercials are on came to a screeching halt, followed by incredulous silence, and then capped off by a literal "WTF?" from both of us.

There's a series of testimonial conmercials that have been airing for a line of cleaning products. One of them starts off with "my name is Tiffany G. and I'm a full time mom."

It's a little thing, but it irritates me because it seems to imply that working moms are somehow only part time parents. Theres just this seed of smug that keeps getting worse every time I see the stupid ad.

I thought that was just the new way to say housewife/stay at home mom.

"Introducing Debby Boone for Lifestyle Lift!"

I wonder how many viewers have stuck around for more than the first few seconds of this two-minute commercial. Not off to a very good start there, ad wizards.

Oh, I'm sure it is. It still irritates me, because apparently stay-at-home mom doesn't convey just how seriously you take your mom-ing. Yes, motherhood is a full time job, but that's not based on whether you are employed outside the home or not. Like I said, it has an edge of smugness to it that SAHM doesn't (or it could just be the actress in the commercial, but I suspect I'd roll my eyes at the full time mommy thing if I heard it in real life).

While I'm at it, I will seriously consider throwing money at the company that legitimately shows a dude housecleaning. Not in the so-easy-even-a-man-can-use-it way, but in a way that acknowledges that it's 2012 and men are also capable and even willing to use cleaning products that don't involve driveways.

Not hatred, per se, but disappointment and annoyance.

There's an ad for one of those silly oversized trucks like a GMC or the like. It's going on and on about the Red Blooded American Qualities of the truck's owners, and it specifies men. About two seconds later, there is a clip of a female, who is apparently supposed to be included in that ownership group.

Is it really that hard to say PERSON? I mean, I know it's an extra syllable, but it wouldn't kill you or anything.

I did see a phone service ad that goes through mom's smartphone, son's smartphone, dad's tablet, and daughter's smartphone.

While they are mentioning each person, there's a quick clip of what each one is doing.

The man? He's COOKING FOOD. IN A KITCHEN. Apparently without burning it down or making huge messes at which mom will then sigh and clean up for him.

A miracle!

That's one of the things I've always liked about IKEA commercials and catalogs. They show guys cooking, women gaming, happy childless families, cats, dogs, men cradling babies in the nursery, female couples in bed together... Y'know, people being people.

Eta: my mom is looking for a new truck. Perhaps I should tell her that big beefy trucks aren't an option, even if you're in a career that justifies them. Maybe she can get one without the penis steering option.

How would that not imply that non-stay-at-home moms are part-time parents?

The first time I saw the commercial I only caught the tail end of it, so all I saw was a cute guy looking across the street at a cute girl and there was nice music and rain and I thought, "Hey, that's a nice commercial. Maybe Axe is growing up or something."

Then I saw the whole commercial, and it was a huge let down. I was actually more put off by it than I was their previous commercials.

Growing up in a several times divorced household with a mother that worked full time, never even thought of working parents as part time. To me part time parents were like my father that only saw every few weeks/months/or in my case years. (Being in the Air Force stationed in Europe did make visitation a wee bit difficult)

And I saw that Axe commercial yesterday and had no clue wtf they were advertising until the very end.

I've never thought of them that way either, which is why I would never in a million years call a stay-at-home parent a "full-time parent," and would (at least metaphorically) roll my eyes at anyone who did use the term that way.

I would pay money for this feature. Then I could do the crossword puzzle and drink a cup of coffee whilst I drove. But that would mean moving the seat further back
