1. Developer Tim Bray has suggested what appropriate number to be the Web's error code for pages "Unavailable for Legal Reasons" like government censorship? No idea.

2. What occupation is practiced by the title characters of TV's "Bunheads"? Ballet dancing

3. What's the lowest-numbered card in a pinochle deck? WAG - 10?

4. What scientist is depicted in bronze, holding a compass and an armillary sphere, in front of the Staszic Palace in Warsaw? Not a clue.

5. Since it was first proposed to Congress in 1983, "New Columbia" has been the name typically suggested for what? WAG - moon colony? (or Mars colony?)

6. The band that has toured (for legal reasons) as Manzarek-Krieger actually performs nothing but hits from what rock group? The Doors

7. What unusual distinction is shared by these birds and no others? Dove, eagle, kookaburra, owl, and swallow? Saw the answer, so I can't comment.

Yikes! Tough week for me; only two for sure. (Only scored a 262 on the Slate quiz, too - better than average, but barely.)

Oooh, I bet you've got it! I was thinking just "51" as in "Area 51," but figured it had to be a three-digit code. I wish I had thought of the literary angle. (Funny how it conveys the same idea with two or three digits, though.)

Guessing: 666. No, wait, it must be 451 (as in Fahrenheit 451)!

I've got no idea what a pinochle deck is, but I will guess: seven

They are part of a current nations coat of arms (or the national flag)?

No, there shouldn't - unless you consider lions birds.

But I'm pretty sure erwins has the correct answer.

I think Darth Credence got it first, but I am quite sure that it's right. A week or so ago I looked at an online slide-show of the best and worst Olympic mascots, and all of these were in there. (I think the slide show was basically all of the Olympic mascots sorted into two categories).

I apologize. My home computer is broken beyond salvaging so I have to buy a new one, but my checkbook is broke too. I haven't felt like dealing with forwarding the email from my phone, to my work computer, so I can copy/paste.

Donations for a new laptop may be mailed to...
