Airplane Air Force combat pay

Comment: I was in the Marine Corps for 5 years, and during that time,
we were told several times by different people that Air Force personnel
receive combat pay if they're stationed on a Marine base, or if a certain
percentage of the base consists of marines

1. There really is no such thing as "Combat Pay." The proper term is "Imminent Danger Pay."

2. Imminent Danger Pay is a Department of Defense policy, not Air Force specific.

3. Imminent Danger Pay is calculated by geographical location, nothing else.

4. Imminent Danger Pay is 225 bucks a month across the board.

Interesting.. Do they add areas if new wars/conflicts break out or take them away areas if places become 'safer'?

JoeBentley, am I correct in remembering that Imminent Danger Pay is separate from Hazardous Duty Pay, or is it just a change in terminology? I remember that I collected some type of additional pay while on Temporary Duty in Turkey, even though we weren't in any obvious danger, partly because the base was a potential terrorist target. This was immediately after Desert Storm and we were "Providing Comfort" by enforcing the northern No Fly Zone.

Joe,

isn't the imminent danger pay now prorated for the days actually in one of the imminent danger pay zones?

Yes, based on a rate of $225 per month:

I may be debunking a UL with a UL, but I have heard that when Air Force personnel are assigned to Army or Marine bases, if the on-post quarters they are assigned to are below Air Force living standards (but perfectly acceptable by Marine or Army standards), they are authorized per diem to stay in a hotel off-post instead.

That might have been Telephoned into "they get combat pay for staying on Marine bases."

/It is kind of odd that a Marine Corps veteran would fail to capitalize "Marines."
