Tonight we are having rib eye of bison and ears of maize.

Mrs BW dearly loves corn on the cob, but she has never tasted "buffalo" (I keep telling her that the "buffalo" nomenclature is erroneous, but she watched too many American westerns with Spanish subtitles while a young girl in Havana.)

Slab of spareribs on the grill and tuna macaroni salad. No dessert because I plan to eat myself into a stupor on ribs, plus it's been too long since I made mac salad. Mmmmm....

Taco Salad Night - meaning I cooked the meat, sauteed the onions and peppers and set out all the other stuff (lettuce, tomatoes, avacado, et cetera) and everyone fixes their own salad.

Dessert was Red, White, and Blueberry Trifle - layers of strawberries, blueberries, whipped cream and angel food cake.

I have officially eaten too much of all of it. . .and I'm totally okay with that.

Reinvisioned leftovers. Last night the original dish was an improvisational sour cream and onion noodles (which didn't work so well), so tonight they got a bit of cheddar mixed in with some half-and-half over the stove, and a generous sprinkling of parsley. Success!

It's early July and I'm sick of barbecued food. Tonight we're having roast beef, mashed potatoes and peas. Then I'm going to curl up with a hot chocolate and pretend it's snowing outside.

Frozen French onion soup, and grilled cheese sandwiches to order. For me, sharp cheddar freshly shredded right off the block onto the bread, horseradish sauce, and a drizzle of sriracha. For Mom, shredded cheddar from a bag. For Dad, Kraft American singles.

There's a bit of a foodie gap in my family.

I can sympathize. My brother has the palate of a toddler, and basically doesn't like meats, vegetables, sauces, or other human foods. My Mom has Celiac disease and on top of that has different tastes in food than me. If we eat together it's usually 3 completely different things.

We found this amazing eel restaurant by chance in Osaka the other day. Best eel ever.

Tonight, however, is garbanzo beans with curry for me and curry rice with beef for ds.

Last night we slapped some steaks on the grill.

Although I cook a lot, I've never actually grilled a steak before, so I was a little apprehensive. They came out almost perfect, though. A little more done than I wanted (I like medium-rare, these were most like medium-well), but still tender and juicy.
