[Errata]

I finally saw a few episodes of this now that it's available on Netflix streaming. I'm not exactly jumping on the brony bandwagon, but it's not bad. If I had a child I wouldn't mind watching it with them, which is more than I can say for a lot of cartoons aimed at young kids.

I like that it provides female main characters with many very different personality types, and it doesn't impose value judgments on which personality types are better than others. It's not telling little girls they should all aspire to be princesses, although it's not telling them there's anything wrong with that either. And it's not all about their relationships with boys.

Andrew W.K. to Speak at 'My Little Pony' Convention

Andrew W.K. is set to speak this September at Ohio's Canterlot Gardens, a convention for the cult show My Little Pony. The positive party rocker will host a panel to ponder "What Would Pinkie Pie Do?" in an exploration of Pinkie Pie, a pony who shares many of W.K.'s rambunctious qualities. The "Party Hard" singer will also speak on wider topics, like making partying as important as work.

I was very confused because the new episodes didn't say "part 1" and "part 2" in the Tivo's info/title, it just said "The Crystal Empire". Apparently Tivo was also confused because it had only recorded part 2... I started watching it and realized I must have missed something and had to look online at an episode guide to figure out what. I went to try to find part 1 to record but of course they all just were called "The Crystal Empire" in the Tivo listings. I had to actually look at the episode number buried in the episode info to figure out which was which and record the right one...so I haven't actually seen it yet since Tivo only just recorded part 1 finally.
