Got a text message the other day talking about something dangerous called "zeds." Didn't feel like looking it up myself, anybody know what this is about?

Zeds is also a nickname for zombies in Max Brook's World War Z and survival guide

Zed's dead, baby. Zed's dead.
ETA: As an aside, "zombie" may not refer to just the undead and/or virus-controlled shambling (never running) former humans. It can also be used by some survivalists to refer to those that are less prepared and may be looking for food/water/shelter during an apocolypse. IOW, humans that are a problem to be disposed of rather than helped. Last edited by GenYus234; 08 June 2012 at 07:40 PM. |

Well, Zs are kind of pointy. You could probably put your eye out if you're not careful.

Anyway, here's the original message. Quote:

Doesn't show up in any of the slang dictionaries I just checked. Apparently ZED (capitalized) is a type of dextromethorphan syrup, and "z" is apparently slang for an ounce of heroin, but that's all I could find.

Yeah, she insisted that it was something freaky.
I insisted that I had better things to do with my time. She's like that, though- we're not really friends but she'll just up and call or text me like it's something we do all the time. We used to hang out together, but that was years ago. |

Ugh. I have a good friend who's like that, especially with rumors like "there's bleach in tampons!!!" She has the oddest combination of gullibility and cynicism.

I'm going to guess that 'Zeds' is an attempt at a new, more sensational name for 'Bath Salts', riffing off the recent zombie face eating attack.

I wonder if that is the NEW term for those "bath salt" amphetamines -- now that multiple people have exhibited cannibalistic behavior while under their "suspected" influence?
There was the guy who tore out his buddies heart, and the two instances of random attacks in Miami (the first one wasn't reported until the second instance apparently) Personally i prefer the term Zeds vs bath salts -- as Z is "the end" which is where your going with this crap apparently. |

Given the person who sent it to me, it could be anything from a slang term for blister beetle extract to President Obama's foreign policy as reported by Rush Limbaugh.
