Hello to everyone, and thank you for having me. It's refreshing to find a forum that actually abides by its own rules concerning expected behavior. I will do my best to maintain these same standards in any and all posts I contribute.
I have foregone answering the questions posted at the beginning of this thread because, well, most of them involve using the search feature(s), and this site has the best and easiest to use that I have found on the internet. And the acronyms are pretty common, so... As for myself, I am a veteran, and physically disabled, but the two are only marginally related. I have a small family consisting of a wife and young child who tolerate my fascination with the strange and unusual with the patience one has for the curmudgeon. Finally, I have a few questions which I have not been able to find anywhere in the FAQs or other threads: What is the policy concerning posting in old threads? Is there an "expiration date" after which it is no longer desirable to post in old topics? I ask, because other forums have guidelines and/or actual rules discouraging this, and I don't want to anger the powers that be on my first day out. Again, thanks for having me, and I hope I am able to contribute something worthwhile during my stay. |

I've been a "lurker" for a long time and a frequent visitor to the site prior to ever discovering the boards. I decided it was about time I actually signed up and stopped being a virtual peeping Tina. I’m female, mid thirties, married, mother to a beautiful 10 month old little girl, an accountant and an avid consumer of all kinds of … um … odd information. LOL. My husband calls it my “Fun facts”. I check facts on Snopes.com almost obsessively. And sometimes I just click on Randomizer over and over for entertainment. Is that weird?
Anyways, thanks for having the site and the boards! (I’m skipping the questions for all the reasons mentioned above … and because it doesn’t seem to be seen as poor form. Please correct me if I’m wrong.) |

Oh, Hello!
Some of you really old people might remember "DataAngel" from some years back. That would be me. I've returned after a long hiatus! Hooray! Since I've been gone, I've gotten married, bought a dog, and sold some porn. I mean.. um... short stories. |

My name's Brendan and I live in Pacifica, California. I've been reading Snopes for about a decade, and have on one or two occasions submitted tips or story ideas. It's kind of surprising to me that I'm only just now getting around to joining the message board.
Anyway, I look forward to shooting the breeze with you all about the urban legends and BS floating around out there. |

Hi, I was vampyrviolia and originally joined back in 2003. The last time I was here was about two years ago, give or take. There's been quite a few changes, I've relocated to College Station, Tx, I've gotten and been laid off from a decent job and been divorced. It's been quite a ride since moving to Texas, and it finally looks like things are getting back to normal.

Hello all. Like many first time posters I am a long time lurker, and have been reading the boards for around ten years. I am 26, currently a PhD student, proudly geeky, uber-lefty and aspire to be a children's/fantasy writer. I originally found the board due to my interest in horror, avidly reading all the grisly urban legends as a teenager, and would credit Snopes with being an important part of my education as an atheist/sceptic (and mellowing; I used to be far more of a Dawkinsite before reading the views of many intelligent, non-fiery brimstone believers).

I'll introduce my self, I've visited this site (and board) for years to help people out when they forward me obvious falsehoods and just for entertainment myself. It's a community I've always felt like a part of, despite my lack of posting, so I figured now would be a good time to sign up and speak so here... SPEAKING!
I'm a 32 year old divorced male skeptic currently residing in the Boston, MA, USA area. |

Alright, facepalming right now. . .
My apologies for not introducing myself in the proper place. Can I have a do-over? Please? I'm a wife, mother, relaxed-and-groovy Christian, music lover and bookworm. I'm also working on a bachelor's degree in Health Science. I've visited the main snopes site and the message board for ages. I used to post on the boards, but it was so long ago I've forgotton the username I had. Hope to see y'all in the boards.

![]() I never even saw this! Forgive me and please allow me to introduce myself: I'm Alarm, but you can call me Al I'm a lightly outdoorsy guy who loves reading and finding out about stuff. I've been a long time reader of Snopes and decided to join the message board community. |

Hello, yet another lurker here who decided to sign up properly. Actually I tried a couple of times but lost the password. Hopefully this one will stick.
Have been reading Snopes for years and eventually ventured on to the Message Board. I love reading all the posts and seeing all the different points of view. Thank you to Snopes for hosting this very interesting forum ![]() It is very likely that I will now sink back into lurkdom ... |

Hello!
I have been lurking here for years, and reading the discussions. I don't want to sound sentimental, but I have really learnt a lot here. Lately I have started to formulate replies in my head, so I thought I might as well join. I am interested in history and the visual arts, but also in any intelligent discussion on social topics. I hope I will be able to add something to the threads. I am not a native speaker of English, and one of my reasons for joining is that it will be a challenge to express myself well when we are debating complex issues. I will try to do my best.

Hi, everyone.
Yet another person who's been lurking for years and is finally joining here. (This thread's kind of a broken record on that account, huh?) I can't think of much to say since I consider myself a boring topic. I ramble on and on when talking about things that do interest me. |

Hi, folks,
Count me in as another long-time lurker. I'll probably post whenever something drags me out of the woodwork. (I'm one who prefers to listen/read conversations rather than contribute to them.) |

Hello everyone!
I am also a long time lurker - I've been lurking here since I was a teenager. I believe that reading posts on this message board so often has made me a much better internet citizen. Back in 2004 or so I used to have an account here by the name of Sfamnun, but I didn't post much back then. I've always been super shy! While I'm just as shy now, I thought I'd give active participation a try again. ![]() My avatar is a picture of one of the cuter mammals around, the rock hyrax (Procavia capensis). They're practically living teddy bears! I love animals and biology, especially anything that has to do with fish. This will probably become more and more apparent the more I post. - Sfam |

Oops. I just found this thread the other day and wasn't able to post because I had to leave.
I've enjoyed reading the Snopes site, but I just discovered the forums recently. I'm fascinated by urban legends and I love doing forums, so I thought this board was cool. I'm a 26-year-old teddy bear artist, which means that I make handmade teddy bears and sell them. I also have a huge bear collection. I'm really into music. I play eight instruments, but mostly piano. I have a lot of weird hobbies that most people I know aren't interested in. I don't like telling people this as soon as they meet me, but I figure I should say it here. I'm almost totally blind and I use a screen reader to use the computer. I say this to explain why I may ask people to describe pictures. |

Whoops, been around various other forums so long that I sort of just jumped in before posting here. My apologies, and I swear I'm not a robot!
Hi! My name is Roland and I'm currently residing in Chicago, IL. I work as a dispatcher for a little package company, but my background is pretty varied. I've done a little bit of everything for varying amounts of time. I have a love of wacky conspiracy theories and urban legends - and the debunking of the same - so I've been using Snopes for years. Recently I decided that maybe I have some information that I can share about these topics, so I started lurking, then made an account, then starting posting...and was wondering why none of my posts were showing. Now I know! Anyway, hello to you all! I'm at work right now (shh) so if you don't mind I'll skip the Five Questions for the moment, as some require real research. |
