The so-called cinnamon challenge — a dare to swallow a spoonful of cinnamon without water — has gone viral and beyond. Though the challenge has been around for years, its popularity has spiked recently, to the amusement — or puzzlement — of many.

I say we merge memes. The new challenge is to put a spoonful of cinnamon into each eye.

This fad(?) was mentioned on the local news about a month ago in connection with some 'choking game'. I don't know if the two are related or not.

I would be too afraid to try the cinnamon thing. I would probably manage to choke and die. Plus, I don't like cinnamon.

Cinnamon isn't the only ingredient that kids are challenging. Milk, marshmallows, and even water can stimulate kids' competitive edge. It's up to parents to know how kids are using (or abusing) what seem like harmless substances.

It seems harmless enough, swallowing a little spoonful of a lovely spice like cinnamon, but the so-called cinnamon challenge, as millions of YouTube viewers know, is not a pleasant gustatory experience.

Just the thought of a spoonful of cinnamon makes the contents of my stomach want to come back up.

Oddly, I think the condom challenge is safer, but still nothing I would suggest one try.

I thought we had a thread on this before, but I ended up flagging several of the videos to the online DCFS because children under 5 were in several of the videos choking until they threw up. With parents and older siblings(?) egging them on and/or pressuring them into it. One child was in tears because he didn't wan't to do it after watching the other kids present do it.
