According to the Sun, in 2008 a vicar turned up in agony at a hospital with a potato stuck in his bottom. The clergyman told stunned casualty nurses he fell backwards on to his kitchen table while hanging curtains:

I guess it really wasn't a one-in-a-million shot then?
Who hangs curtains in the buff anyway? Doesn't that mean that this fine, er, upstanding member of the community was up by an uncovered window with his holy relics on display? |

I can assure you the casualty nurses were NOT "stunned."

I'll just bet this story--both versions--are mostly fabricated. The SUN is a tabloid newspaper, so many of the stories they print are more for entertainment than straight news.
To begin with, how can a person get a potato caught in his butt? Unless he stuck it up there himself, it could not be stuck. And falling onto a potato wouldn't cause it to be crammed up one's anus anyhow. And as it has been pointed out, no one would hang curtains in the nude, unless he or she was an at-home nudist. And it is unlikely that a vicar would be such. Barb Rainey |

I'm pretty sure that if the whole story isn't fabricated, at least the priest's explanation is.
Quote from the nurse in the article: "“But our staff deal with them in a discreet, professional and kind way.” Except when they are being interviewed for the newspaper... |
