Police hit out at hoax clown stab attack rumours

An apparent Halloween prank which sparked reports of attempted stabbings has been rubbished by police as a hoax.

Bizarre rumours that a man dressed as a clown had been spotted slashing at people on Tyneside swept Newcastle and Gateshead.
